I saw an ad for a new TV series after Dr. Who yesterday called Merlin, this is series to replace Robin Hood which begins in August.

I have no idea if Robin Hood has been scrapped, but to be honest I wasn't missing nothing.

Sounds interseting, I'll probably watch this.

Is Robin Hood finished now then? I loved both series of It.

Yeah I think Robin Hood is pretty much finished... they might bring it back sometime, and one of the lead actors has joined the cast of Spooks too...

I have high hopes for this Merlin show tbh... it looks decent, and NBC have bought the rights to it in the USA which is the first time a major broadcasting company has done that for a UK show for AGES.

oOo must be good then.

When does It begin?

This has got a hallmark of a good series, much better than Robin Hood

The second episode was as good as the first. A great show with some very good cameo appearances in each episode seems to be the trend.

But damn it was not up against X-Factor like it was last week, so "I must avoid .... the temptation ...... and watch ....... make Simon Cowell even more filthy rich ......."

I think it's alright, much better than Robin Hood, but i'm not amazed by it yet. The two lead actors have great potential for the future, but often in scenes they're out acted by the more experienced actors imo. Still, i'll keep watching for the time being. That guy from Heroes is in it soon, and Michelle Ryan in the next episode.
I've loved both episodes so far, although I preffered the first slightly. can't wait for more!

I'm really starting to enjoy this show as it is finding its groove. Last night's episode was the best one yet. Whilst next week's looks really good and intriguing with Merlin seemingly out of the action

Whilst having a young cast of relatively unknown actors with the likes of Richard Wilson, Anthony Head & John Hurt in the older supporting roles with a star cameo each week is a great formula IMHO.

This is so much better than the Politically Correct very disappointing revival of Robin Hood.

Last night's episode was brilliant, but Michelle (Zoe) didn't have enough screen time, she was just in the cave most of the time, her character of the sorceress was not really explored that much.

well i must be in the minority here. i caught some of it and thought it was utter rubbish... unlike the authentically shot 'tess' , wtf were 5th centuary brits doing running around an 18th centuary french chateau?... ... at best the set was that of an 12th centuary castle, a whopping 700 years out of time!!!!

i have yet to see a really good adoptation of the arthurian legend, too much bull$h!t associated with it and too many moronic scripts. this version appears to be no different, totally getting it wrong (historically).

This thread should have been more popular :(

Amazing series. Absolutely loved it.

Anyway - it premiers in America tonight! :cheer: Hope it goes down well!

Merlin made a decent debut in the ratings on NBC in the US at the weekend, according to overnight figures.

The series - a new take on the Arthurian legend - pulled in 5.3 million viewers between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday night. The first two episodes were shown back to back on the network immediately after live coverage of the US Open golf championship.

The audience figures were small, but enough to make NBC the second most-watched network of the night in the US. Merlin was beaten by gameshow Million Dollar Password and a rerun of Cold Case on CBS.

In the UK, the first episode pulled in 6.6 million viewers on BBC One last September. A second series is currently in production for broadcast this Autumn.

It's being shown on Channel 10 here down under. Seems to be doing well.

Personally i think it's a load of $h!te and will stick to Charmed when it comes to magic

I quite like it, a lot better than the usual Sunday night TV here.
