July 11, 200817 yr tbh, i dunno if i could chose. the idea of a 'desert island discs' thread has been mooted around in my noggin for ages, but i decided that id be too hard pushed so i created the 'my album of' instead threads :) however, that isnt saying this isnt a good idea :)
July 11, 200817 yr hmm.... thinking about this, id chose one track from a variety of genres, and most have already been featured in 'my album of....' lol. 1 the robinson crusoe suite ... lol.. just to be in flavour! 2 Public Image LTD - Public Image .... nuff said 3 Jackie Wilson - (your love keeps lifting me ) higher and higher 4 Ralph Vaughan Williams - the countryside suite 5 Veracocha - Carte Blanche ... although tbh i could have picked 10 trance anthems easily. 6 Spencer Davis Group - Keep on running ... all time great, a perfect pop song. 7 Queens of the Stoneage - No one Knows ... ok not retro but my all time fav rock track 8 B15 Project - Girls Like Us .... lol.. its a great track! :P 9 Visage - Fade to Grey 10 Yardbirds - Shapes of Things ... with track #6 a contender for my fav single ever.
July 11, 200817 yr Right here goes. TBH a few other tracks would be in contention as well but 10 was the limit. So.... Good Vibrations - Beach Boys I think of this as a complete 3 minute symphony, just magical. She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult The finest rock track of the 80s if not all time. Freak Scene - Dinosaur Jr. Oh the guitars Summertime Rolls - Jane's Addiction Just makes me feel good to be alive 1983 (A Merman Should I Turn To Be) - Jimi Hendrix 15 min scifi odyssey from the Electric Ladyland album. Crown of Thorns - Mother Love Bone Damn Andrew Wood for ODing - this is beautiful Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young Simple yet effective Common People - Pulp Words and music just blend together to make a fantastic whole Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve The finest single of all time Blue Monday - New Order Loved from the first time I heard it in 1983.
