OK so I understand why best-selling soundtracks like The Wedding Singer or Notting Hill weren't eligible for the artists charts because they were compilations and were made up of new songs and previously-released stuff.

But I don't understand the rules regarding scores & soundtracks.

Titanic counted even though it had Celine singing on the end - as well as all the instrumental pieces

Hairspray didn't count even though it was just a score with one bonus track by a pop artist

Evita counted, Phantom of the Opera counted - all movie soundtracks with a score by Andrew Lloyd-Webber

Mamma Mia the movie soundtrack doesn't count

Mamma Mia the West End soundtrack does count

Does anyone know what the deal is?

I'm bumping this on the off chance anyone knows
Titanic was attributed to one artist - James Horner - on the sleeve, and the others to various artists. That is the only thing I can think of!
What an interesting point of discussion ^_^ Frankly, we'll never get an answer to this question I was always curios about, considering the soundtracks :arrr: But maybe somebody will read this thread, and might give of some explanations  xox.
