MTV is to air the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart across its UK and European channels, after signing a long-term deal with the Official Charts Company.

The new deal kicks off today (July 21) with the premiere of the Official UK Top 40 on VH1 at 7pm. The chart will then air across MTV network channels throughout the week – including MTV Hits which goes out throughout Europe – while the broadcaster will also reveal the rundown of the download singles, album and R&B singles chart.

The deal, which is understood to last two years, also includes streaming and publishing rights for TV and online as well as mobile publishing rights.

Meanwhile the broadcaster, which today holds its Summer Music Event to update the industry on its plans, has revealed that it is partnering with Liverpool Music Week in the run up to the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards that will take place in the city later this year.

I don't find it very official, they played Darren Styles (#40) at the very beginning, I'm sure Darren Styles just missed the top 40 by 1

Is there a song in the top40 that doesnt have a video?

The tv music channels usually miss out "Viva La Vida", because they don`t consider it a single (because it wasn`t put out as a physical single, but they do feature "Violet Hill").

Is everything below Coldplay, a position higher?
