Just to let you know I (Nonsuch) am more than happy to host the ninth BJSC. :w00t:

I'm looking at the provisional dates:

BJSC IX Provisional Nomination thread: Open Now

Confirmation Thread: Open 3rd August

Semi Finals Votes Open: 9th - 12th August

Final Vote: 13th August - 18th August 11:59 PM

Results revealed (depending on how busy I am): 19th, 20th or 21st August.

I know with what I have on at work & at home, if it is not completed by that week, then the following two weeks are out as I am busy then, so it would have to be put back to a finale on the week of 8th September.

The one thing I should mention is that while I'm more than fine to compile the results and organise the running of the competition, I am useless at anything to do with graphics.

So someone else will need to do a recap video.

Any Comments / Thoughts?

If I have as much free time by then as I do now I will probably be able to do basic recap videos like I did for BJSC7. I rip most of the songs from Youtube anyway, so it's just a case of making the videos - which isn't too hard, just time consuming.

Camtoro News

After not participating in this months BJSC Camtoro officials have announced that Thomas Godoj will represent them in next months contest

Thomas Godoj was seen holidaying in Camtoro after releasing his debut album Plan A!

Thomas was the winner of the German Pop idol 2008

His song "Love is you" went straight to number one in 5 different countries

At a latest party he said "Im very happy to be representing this country and i hope to give it my all. I love the country its a great island with great music fans and i cant wait to make them happy"

The dates fit well around my holidays ^_^
Those dates look good, and id be more than willing to help you out with the recap vids :o
Oh I think I'll have to pull out of this one possibly :( I shall be on holiday for the majority of it all.

Little Boots satisfied with result; Jennifer Saunders ready to go 11 better

After last night's 12th placed result with 73 points, lead singer of Little Boots Victoria Hesketh said she was 'satisfied' with the result and 'just happy to have taken part - it was a great show and a very worthy top 5'. There was disappointment within Kopecka at the result, with many people feeling that Meddle should've done better, but overall spirits were high within the capital Zagorasta last night, with many hoping that next month's entry from Jennifer Saunders, Holding Out For A Hero, can finally bring Kopecka back into the top 5. There has been a rethink within the Kopecek BJSC internal selection committee after last night's result, which is thought to have received a luke-warm reception within the committee, and an official announcement today claimed that Patrick Wolf is no longer the official representative for BJSC X and that confirmation will take place nearer to the contest.

Oh yes, and Botanikka are provisionally unable to take part in the next contest for intentionally not voting due to a problem which we all thought had been solved by now...as well as possibly Rivandia, who will only be allowed to take part on the proviso that they actually promise to vote for the first contest since BJSC IV -_-

ČEKB!TCH - Ček the gossip, ček the b!tches // EXCLUSIVE: Kopečka changes mind: sensational three-way battle to take place

After a month of apparent confirmation that Jennifer Saunders would be representing Kopečka in the 9th contest, it has been announced that a u-turn has been made by the internal selection committee, and that Kopečekfestivalen! will return under a new format for the 9th contest, with the three entrants announced as Jennifer Saunders, Kalomoira and former entrant Elena Paparizou. The NF will go as follows: Elena Paparizou and Kalomoira will have their own heats in which their own songs go head-to-head to find the best for the final, with Holding Out For A Hero receiving a bye to the final. The final will feature 5 songs - the 2 best songs from the Elena and Kalomoira heats along with Holding Out For A Hero, and the songs will all go head-to-head to find the Kopeček entrant for the 9th contest to be held in Nonsuch's thus far unnamed capital :drama:.

The songs have been announced as follows for each heat:

Elena Paparizou

To All The Heroes

The Game of Love

Teardrops

Kalomoira

Sto Diko Mou Rythmo

Vradiazi

Hot

Not that it makes much difference, but Jonny voted in BJSC5 aswell. So he's missed the last 3, 1 due to holiday.

Ohh, I was told he didn't vote in BJSCV :heehee: Oh well, last three then, even so quite the awful record :o

Yes, he does have a guide ^_^ It is quite time consuming though so I'm sure you'll be forgiven if someone else does it Rich :heehee:

BTW, how's the following for an idea?

[14:49]Trashlexis wants you!:

for the next contest, as an idea: non-voting when you've been online fairly recently gets you a 25% docking of points if you're in the final

[14:49] Trashlexis wants you!:

a 20% docking if you've been offline for more than half the voting time by the end

[14:49] Trashlexis wants you!:

i.e. if the voting lasts 6 days, if you havent been on for 3 days then you get 20% docked

[14:50] Trashlexis wants you!:

if you're an online semi-finalist and it's thought you intentionally didn't vote then you're disqualified from the next contest

[14:50] Trashlexis wants you!:

i.e. if you've been on the forum quite a bit

[14:50] Trashlexis wants you!:

and an offline semi-finalist gets no punishment

Does that sparkle with y'all? :drama:

EDIT: Ignore the above for finalists. My proposal - blanket 25% deduction for non-voters who are in the final. If the non-voting in the final is thought to be intentional (i.e. it's been made rather explicit that the person will not vote), then the deduction will be 33% as well as a disqualification from the next contest. Non-voting in the semi for semi-finalists is a blanket 25% deduction regardless of being online or offline, with punishment for auto-qualifiers not voting at the host's discretion. Sound decent?
