The Dannii and Kylie duet is happening.

Unfortunately though, at this stage, it's looking like it's going to be a cover. Not a brand new, mind blowing, disco floorfiller that they could have made and would have done so well for them, or a cover of a little known song that they could have made their own either. They're likely to go ahead with covering one of the biggest pop groups of all time. Which is never a good move unless you do it in the style that Madonna did.

And it's not even certain that it'll be released as a single. It's a project for a television show. That way if it's well recieved then they can go ahead with a release. And if it's not - then they can keep it unreleased and avoid having a flop with it.

I'll reserve judgement until I hear it, as should everyone. But I can't help but feel very dissapointed.

Interesting...

I don't know if the Madonna comparison means the duet will be an ABBA cover (hence the Madonna mention, as she sampled Gimme Gimme Gimme in Hung Up) or if it just means it'll be a cover of another famous group...

i get the impression it'll be ABBA, and that'll be bloody dreadful. Eek.

I can't see it being an ABBA cover. ABBA have always been very reluctant to allow people to commercially cover their songs and only made an exeption for Madonna because it was so absolutely amazing (which it was :w00t:) I believe they originally said no to her too until she convinced them otherwise.

I'm not to fussed on a duet to be honest, i don't really like Dannii

don't think it'll be Abba

but remember kylie covered dancing queen at the Olympics a few years back

None of this is good news in any way whatsoever.

It's almost like they both want to do irreperable damage to both of their reputations with a cover.

This above all spells very bad news for Dannii if they release it as a single. Dannii does need all the help and exposure she can get, but this duet will seem like desperation and will look like she's relying on her sister to carry her.

Let's not not judge until we hear what song it is. they could cover an unknown song and make it huge a bit like what kylie did with on a night like this...
i guess it will be 'We are family' by Sister Sledge...

Then I am sensing another "he's the greatest dancer" kind of flop for both of them...

I agree, it might turn out to be okay. Hope so anyway.

some ifo on the duet:

Kylie has recorded a duet with her sister Dannii for the new BBC2 comedy Beautiful People and the ladies have chosen the ABBA classic Winner Takes It All as their contribution to the soundtrack. The track has been produced by Steve Anderson, Terry Roland and Ian Masterson and judging by Roland’s recent comments on the Dannii forum we’re in for a treat!

“It’s a really fun show, with lots of great music. The duet is in episode 4 … I don’t think you’ll be disappointed,” wrote Roland, “you haven’t heard Kylie belt like this for a long time on record, and I seriously believe that this is the best vocal Dannii has ever done!”

The first episode of the new show which has been written by Jonathan Harvey (Gimme Gimme Gimme) and produced by Jon Plowman (Absolutely Fabulous) airs on BBC2 on Thursday the 2nd of October at 9.30pm and stars Meera Syal (The Kumars At No 42) and Olivia Colman (Peep Show).

The Beautiful People Soundtrack is scheduled for a physical CD release by Virgin TV on the 20th of October although the track-listing is still to be confirmed.

I'm listening to The Winner Takes It All right now :o Coincidence that I came across this thread :heehee: I hope they release it!

probably

many people will download that one track for around 79p rather than spending around £12 for the whole soundtraxck

Why do all the big stars who duet have to sing covers? :( They usually don't live up to the original and just get criticized. Well, hopefully it'll receive a better response than Sugababes & Girls Aloud "Walk This Way"!
i agree i think when big names get together they should do original but i suppose up until now kylie duets have always been originals
