Posted March 14, 200619 yr Lately, I've read that Ms Manson had worked on a project (one song) with David Arnold with whom she already worked for the title track to the Bond movie The World Is Not Enough. Although it's not certain that certain project is going to appear on an upcoming solo project, she plans on starting to record this spring. Can't wait to hear how that might sound... The GH has been pushed back yet again to September/November... Edited March 15, 200619 yr by Ephemere
March 14, 200619 yr Oh YAY! :o :cheer: I was disappointed to see Garbage were splitting up so I'm looking forward to this :D
March 14, 200619 yr Author Oh... and the Greatest Hits has been pushed back again to at least September...
March 14, 200619 yr That would also expalin why "Run Baby Run" disappeared from the release schedule. I have high hopes for this, but I'd still rather Garbage reformed.
March 14, 200619 yr Author That would also expalin why "Run Baby Run" disappeared from the release schedule. I have high hopes for this, but I'd still rather Garbage reformed. Me too... I'm actually quite scared of what she would do as a solo artist. She's a great melodist (I really like the stuff she did or start alone like Drive You Home) but I'm not sure if I'd want her doing something else than rock...
March 14, 200619 yr Author There's already an official news about that!!! :o Garbage's Shirley Manson Flying Solo March 14, 2006, 11:00 AM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. With Garbage on a hiatus of undetermined length, frontwoman Shirley Manson has begun work on her first solo album. The artist tells Billboard.com she recently completed a track with U.K. film composer David Arnold, with whom she collaborated on the theme song for the 1999 James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough." "I just went to London last week and we wrote a song together," she says. "It was really quick and fast and it was really good fun." Manson admits with a laugh that beginning to write with other people is "scary and really exciting and super-freaky. It feels really weird to talk about it!" Manson says she has no timetable for completing the project and is more interested in enjoying herself. "I've got no timetable. I'm sort of sick of timetables, to be honest," she says. "I just want to live my life a little freely and not adhere to any schedule -- just make music and have fun." The artist acknowledges Garbage fans were confused by the mixed messages surrounding the start of the band's hiatus last fall, but insists, "We're still together, absolutely. We all feel like we want to go off and do a variety of things. [Drummer] Butch [Vig] is going back into production and some other guys are working on film soundtracks." "Being the chaotic bunch we are, we should have put a press release together but we didn't," she adds. "We were quite taken aback by how big a deal was made of it. But we love each other and we still want to work together. We're just taking a break. We've had a crazy decade." Source: Billboard.com
March 14, 200619 yr Well, I love Garbage so I'm eager to see what she comes up with solo, I get the feeling she'll be great. :D
March 15, 200619 yr Author No, they haven't fortunately. There are so many things I'd like to hear from them in the future... So, in the upcoming months, there's a GH for sure, a rumored DVD (videos + live) and a long time announced B-Sides album.
March 15, 200619 yr Give us back first album-era Garbage any day. ;) Agreed, I've not been overly impressed with anything after 'Version 2.0" which itself was rather pallid in comparison to the first album, the more I listen to "Bleed Like Me", the more I see its flaws, and "Beautiful" was just awful......

Strangely, I imagine Shirley's solo stuff to be just like BeautifulGarbage... I always felt it was her record...
March 15, 200619 yr Strangely, I imagine Shirley's solo stuff to be just like BeautifulGarbage... I always felt it was her record... I couldn't stand that Bond theme she did, really poor, mind you, not as bad as Madonna's.......
March 15, 200619 yr Author I couldn't stand that Bond theme she did, really poor, mind you, not as bad as Madonna's....... :puke2: Die Another Day is so bad... It took me such a long time to like The World Is Not Enough... I think it took me 4 yrs. Without beeing my favorite, I don't skip the song anymore...

March 16, 200619 yr I'm so buying their GH!! They're a great band and I'm disappointed with the promotion of "Bleed Like Me" (if we can call what they did promotion)... A GH is a great idea to end an era, so it'll be a nice addition to anyone's collection.

I agree, but I can't see what they could have done more either... And I really hope they add some bonus material to the GH... because a rumored tracklist didn't include any and even excluded #1 Crush... :(
