July 30, 200816 yr Seems like the term 'flop' is even more loosely applied these days innit. The downloads have slowed down the peak a song can reach so it's very rare for any artist to have at least three successful singles. Sam Sparro doesn't deserve a flop however :( Pendulum are another - big top 10 success and the follow up isn't even looking likely to make the top 50! Oh and Beaver Face as well. But then both her songs this year so far have been horrendous.

The downloads have slowed down the peak a song can reach so it's very rare for any artist to have at least three successful singles. Yep its now possible for a song to only reach #21 or something after a top 5 song but still be considering successful because its common for "semi-flop" singles to hang around for ages. For example Akon- Put The Blame On Me ( :puke2: ) Kanye West- Good Life and Maroon 5 + Rihanna- If I Never See Your Face Again.
August 1, 200816 yr no it didn't, 2 hearts made no. 4 and wow made no. 5 didn't it? or are we talking sales?? Yes. '2 Hearts' did about 130k and 'Wow' has now done something like 180k in total or more. 'Wow' was her biggest selling single since the Fever days.
August 2, 200816 yr I think the majority of second singles are going to be "flops" in the new download era; people can cherry-pick and preview tracks as soon as the albums are released, they don't need to wait for the single release anymore. feeling - #67, despite the album re-entering cos of it. so the feeling single didnt flop as it made people buy the album - ad thats the most important thing - thats what singles are for....and i suppose in the download era you cant get people to buy the same thing once they got it on the album (keeping radio play out hype of the equasion for a min)
