Modric

Reckoned by many to be one of the star players of Euro 2008, named in the final Euro 2008 team, destroyed England almost single handedly, proven at top international level

Anderson

An afterthought in the Nani deal, a handful of semi decent performances in 2008 and one great game, barely recognised at international level

If I was Levy and you offered a straight swap Anderson for Modric I would laugh and put the phone down

'He earned himself iconic status by scoring the goal that lifted Grêmio back into Serie A in a promotion playoff against Nautico. This goal was particularly memorable because Grêmio only had seven players on the pitch at the time and had just seen the opposition have a penalty saved. The goal gave Grêmio a 1-0 victory in the most unlikely of circumstances.'

'In April 2005, he played for Brazil in the South American U-17 Championship, and the following October he won the Adidas Golden Ball with his national team at the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup.'

'He has been selected to represent his country at the 2008 Summer Olympics.'

Where the f*** was Modric @ 18? ahaha, nowhere!

and mate, Krankjar looked world-class against England....

for someone who's meant to be 'barely recognized at international level' he's ACTUALLY won something with Brazil, that being the Copa America when he was 19 :)

At just 20, thus far he's won;

Grêmio

Campeonato Brasileiro Série B: 2005

Porto

Portuguese Championship: 2005-06, 2006-07

Taça de Portugal: 2005-06

SuperCup Cândido de Oliveira: 2005-06

Manchester United

FA Community Shield: 2007

Barclays Premier League: 2007-08

UEFA Champions League: 2007-08

Brazil

Copa America: 2007

Compared to Modric's;

Dinamo Zagreb

Croatian First League: 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08

Croatian Cup: 2007, 2008 [3]

Croatian Super Cup: 2006

imo, it's an insult to Andershow to even compare the two, as it's quite clear....

Modric has never played in a decent league

Modric, as I haven't really seen anything special from Anderson since he joined Utd.

I mean gaining iconic status from scoring against a team of 7  Any of the 11 Gremio players could have become an icon and the next big thing if that's one of the criteria

Gremio were the team with 7...

see that's what skim reading does

Well the point remains any of the other 6 would have become an 'icon'

I ahve to say that it's odd that in 1485 Premiership minutes played last season (most against 11 men and ALL against 'inferior' teams) he failed to even score once.....

Is it true he only had 1 assist too ?

For all his fancy tricks he doesn't seem to have much end product

Might come good in the future and end up better than Modric but right now I would even have Dos Santos instead of Anderson

lol @ the 7 gimps who don't watch Croatian League football, who feel they have enough info on Modric to give an honest opinion.

My assessment of him is based on internationals and I have seen him play many times for Croatia and have seen enough of him to think he will be a megastar in this country

So you watch weekly do you to know different? ^_^

That's the same thing people said about a certain man named Cristiano Ronaldo in his first season :)

Like most people here I've only seen Modric in the Euros, foreigners take time to adapt and the fact we payed so much for a player to eventually replace a player as good as Paul Scholes I think he'll get better. Modric also has huge potential as well.

Where's the 8 fools? shame on you, voting for a player who gets outbossed by a Stoke midfield

They're being sequestered ahead of being given 40 lashings for disagreeing with you on a football matter.

Becuase Anderson has done SO much to prove he's such an excellent player compared to Modric. Oh, hold on...

And Modric has got an assist so far so be fair to him, he's already equalled Anderson's first season record!
