Simon made three awful choices in my opinion, I hate all three of them, although Scott might grow on me

This is the order of strength imo of each group of finalists, from strongest to weakest:

 

Girls 16-25 [Cheryl]

 

Alexandra has the talent to be the winner. I'm not sure if she'll show enough likeablility factor but certainly she was the one who absolutely needed to go through. Diana and Laura are both very much like many teen girls of today in terms of image which should really help them in terms of their appeal. Laura has a very strong voice and Diana's is wonderfully quirky. I was so afraid Cheryl would go with Amy but in the end she picked absolutely perfectly. Job well done and she may have the winner in Alexandra...

 

Over 25s [Dannii]

 

It was obvious Ruth was going to get through; she's got an amazing and emotive voice and unusually for an over-25 she genuinely looks as if she could succeed in the quite fickle music industry. She could certainly be a star, and not just in the UK; I think Dannii may have a final 2 contender if not winner there. Rachel obviously was going to go through too, and she'll have that Rhydian-esque love/hate thing going on with the public I think. Her vocal style is also very 'in' at the minute (that Winehouse-esque twang). Suzie would've been a better third choice than Daniel perhaps, but she came across as cold and unlikeable whereas Daniel is the polar opposite, and it matters not since whichever was chosen they'd be leaving the live rounds early on. Dannii's got two great hopes with Ruth and Rachel though, the best Over 25 group to date.

 

Groups [Louis]

 

Girlband going through is a shock! I really thought Louis would be a sucker for 4Instinct actually, but I'm not complaining. Girlband are competent and a reasonable ensemble. JLS were obviously going to go through; I think what they offer is a little bit dated but definitely they were the best of the boy groups. Bad Lashes are Louis' strongest act by far though - they'll not win but certainly go far, and they're likely to be a lot better than last year's Hope I think. So a reasonably strong group and the three best choices Louis could've made.

 

Boys 16-24 [simon]

 

Oooh dear. Given that Simon doesn't like losing I'm a little perplexed at his choices. :/ Surely Allen was his best hope for getting the public vote?! Austin will get that too but he'll probably have a slightly love/hate effect I think; a lot of people are probably seriously put off by his ridiculously emotional side. Eoghan is cute so he'll get hordes of votes but I think certainly in the second half of the live finals the rest of the talent will show him up and he won't get to the end. Scott...no chance. A genuinely nice guy but not contemporary and not got a hope, really.

 

So to sum up, it's definitely the girls' year. :heehee:

There's less than a minute's worth of Suzie being shown (out of five hours worth) in the competition. That's not near enough to say whether you like her or not. The only reason I'm behind her is because I followed her throughout her days in The 411 and she definetley wasn't "cold" and "unlikeable" back then.

Oh come on! This episode and the last she's had as much screen time as anybody and she gives off no warmth, no likeability. You can't honestly think compared to the likes of Diana and Laura she would capture the public's imagination? She's too serious, nothing at all unique or likeable about her... I appreciate that you liked the 411 a hell of a lot but I think that's probably blinding you a tad Martin because nothing we've seen of Suzie has been anything more than a miserable frown...

 

Plus her comments about Dannii in the paper were incredibly bitter, but I'm not holding that against her since she may have been misquoted. But in my view nothing about her comes off as likeable in the slightest; she's bland at best. Sorry, I know you do love her lol.

I disagree. Go and watch the episodes again and count how many seconds she's on compared to the rest of the ladies in her category, Jark. We saw ALL the ladies' auditions except hers. We saw more of the ladies performances at Bootcamp than we did hers. We saw more of the ladies talking to Dermot/the camera than we did her. What did the other ladies do that Suzie didn't for you to not like her? Have I missed an episode or something? All I've seen Suzie do is laugh, smile, cry and talk about how much she wants & needs this oppurtunity. Maybe you're right. Maybe because I know her from The 411 days that I'm going OTT. But I'm telling you, she was a funny lady who always acted silly. We've only seen her "miserable frown" because the show has been edited very poorly for her, Jark. She said she HAS spoke about The 411 and that there's a lot of her sh*t they aren't showing.

 

Anyway, lol.

 

I want that Alexandra lady to win. I think she has the best vocals in there.

the only ones I would have swapped is Eoghan for Mali, and Dan for Suzie.

i was really angry Daniel got through over Suzie and Diana got through over Amy other then that the choices were decent

Hmmm, i dont personally think Suzie came off cold and misreable but i agree with Jark that she didnt come off as warm as the others. The general public probably woudnt really have taken to her if she had gone to the live shows anyway.

Oh Dannii :( Major WTF at putting the stupid sob story through :( Both Suzie and James were 10x better than him, he doesn't even have a very good voice imo :(

Ruth and Rachel definatley amazing choices though they should do very well :wub:

 

Cheryl and Louis got it spot on, Simon did too except he shouldn't have picked Eoghan :P but he's cute so he'll get votes.

My family didn't believe me when I said she was from 411 :(

And although I think Suzie was a better singer than Daniel, maybe Danii knew about the 411 and thought she'd had her chance, she's already had two top 10 hits. Either that or she just needed a man because otherwise we'd have 8 Female acts and only 4 Male.

Cheryl has defently got the strongest category. All 3 of her girls are gonna shine in this. I actually think Louis may have the weakest category. I just don't really care for any of his 3.

 

In Cheryl's group - Alexandra is my fave, and i almost burst into tears when Cheryl started to make her believe that she hadn't gone through "Oh no not again". I did really like Amy but i do except that her voice just wasn't strong enough to get her through. I think Laura and Diana may have problems though as i think they will target a similar audience and so their share of votes may well be divided.

 

I think Danni has taken a huge gamble with Rachel, she can't seem to get through one performance without messing up. If she does this on the live finals she will be crusified. I like Ruth and I like it when she sings in Spanish but i hope she doesn't so this all the time cos it will become boring. And I think Danny will be one of the first to go. He is just a bit boring and his voice just isn't strong enough (she really should have gone with Suzie and she almost did - see Xtra Factor).

 

Simon's 3 are a bit blah to be honest. Though I'm glad he put through Austin and Scott because i still resent the fact that 14 and 15 year olds can enter this contest. (Sorry but i just believe being that young and their getting used to being boys becoming men, along with all the media intrusion just makes it wrong that they dropped the age limit down). I would have prefered Alan to Eoghan even though Alan's voice isn't up to much but Eoghan seems to have a younger mentality then 16 and i think his voice is still growing and maybe he should have done this next year, when his voice would be stronger, but his through. Austin reminds me of Lee Ryan but his crying is getting on my nerves and he'll have to stop cos it might work against him if he keeps doing it. I like Scott, but there's nothing about him that would make me vote for him

 

And Louis with the groups, well I've never really liked JLS, i just thought they were mediocure personally. And I want to like Girlband and Badlashes, but i've started to go off Girlband when watching tonights Xtra factor and when Holly said "whats been the most amazing part of the X Factor journey" and they replied "being in the bath" - judges houses, and the way they were so OMG about the bath and i just thought they were abit too imature and their not getting alot out of this, if a bath was the best thing. Badlashes i like though, but i think i'll have to wait until the live finals to see if I am gonna surport them or not.

 

So i think bottom two will be Danny and Girlband
