It seems I am alone on this one but why the hell is Heskey preferred over Owen or Crouch. Heskey is not an international goal scorer and never has been a big threat internationally regardless of his club form. I thought he was a donkey years ago and nothing he has done since has changed my opinion of him.

He scored a 'putt' against Germany - instant legend

Heskey's brilliant when he wants to be. I'm delighted he's in the squad, but he's a player that thrives on confidence - if he has confidence he'll be one of the best players on the pitch, but it not he struggles. I like Crouch too, but with England especially, when the team is down, all they seem to do is use the long ball technique and it never works tbf. I'd have liked to have seen Owen in the squad too, but I don't think Capello rates him... if he wants back in the squad, then he'll have to prove to Capello that he's worthy of a place. Tbh, I'd rather see Defoe and Heskey start up fron rather than Rooney and Heskey. He's another one that's completely lost his form for England.
Wayne Rooney is utter $h!te. I'd happily never see him in an England shirt again, he's been useless for so long now, by far worse than Gerrard or Lampard yet they get the stick. Considering he's supposedly our best forward and someone who's put in to score it shows a lot when he's scored as many competitive international goals in the last 4 years as Joe Cole has in the last 4 days.

England are all over the place, rather predictably and have yet to create a chance after 16 minutes.

Still England's best performance under Capello...

:cheer: And Again!

We are playing fantastic football tonight, my faith is very almost kind of restored in England :o

Definate Red Card for that Croatian guy though, horrible tackle on Joe Cole... Croatia should be down to about 9 men tbh.. theyre a right bunch of dirty players, its quite disgusting tbh especially the other centre back who shoulda been off for standing in Wayne Rooneys direct way, let alone the should have been penalty he gave away...

Don't have Setanta, but from what i'm hearing from 5 Live, we're playing Croatia off the park... hopefully this will lift up everyone's spirits a little, especially as everyone expected us to get beat by Croatia in Zagreb (me included).

4-1

Excellemt performance, best in God knows how long. Walcott was awesome in front of goal, Rooney played well, we actually kept possession and created chances. Bizarre.

The ref is an idiot though, score should be 5-0.

Absolutley fantastic play, brilliant  Im so in England love again
Oh and what a bunch of cynical pricks Croatia have in their time, Simonic (sp?) being the oustanding candidate on the pitch.
The highlights are on Setanta tonight at 10.45pm if anyone wants to know, and they'll be uncrypted so even if you don't have a subscription to Setanta you'll still be able to watch. :magic:

Really?! :cheer:

Excellent result! :D

Really pleased for Walcott, I hope he can cement his place now, if only to stop Bentley from getting in, don't rate him that much at all. Really glad we did it with Heskey in too, he's a fantastic player. So unselfish and creates so many opportunities and space for others. They were saying on 5Live that Barry and Lampard played really well, hopefully it'll be difficult for Gerrard to get back in!

Trust a gooner to get a hat trick :(

t'is a rare occurence these days, from a team better known as Rest of the World XI :kink:

Just watching the highlights now. It's only about 15 minutes into it, but it's already apparent that England's major weak spot is its keeper...

Hands up who thinks Sven selecting Theo Walcott for the 2006 World Cup Squad was a stupid decision now?

:D

That was the best England performance since Germany 1-5 England in 2001. :w00t:

Welcome back sing when your winning fans and let me say I told you so :cheer:

The best thing about it is that no one is getting carried away and they all realise this is only the beginning :D The press are also doing exactly what I said as well!

I was relieved Rooney played well because in the first ten minutes I was thinking maybe he needed to be dropped from the side but he's probably at least got his place for Kazakstan (sp?) which will be on ITV btw.
