The Saturdays - 'Up' 'Chasing Lights' [13.10.08] [27.10.08]

Featured Replies

'Chasing Lights' now #8 on iTunes :D.

What are the odds on 'Up' getting another week in the Top10? It seems to be doing pretty well on Airplay now.

I can't believe some people don't like the album version of Up, I think it's so superior to the single mix :o

I quite like the album version of 'Up', it's a nice different version but I prefer the single version. They blatantly put a different version on there to maximise sales of the single as well as the album.

I bought the album today, I'm just giving it it's first play through now. :D

My thoughts after the first listen...

Strong pop album, a few of the tracks sound a little bit dated but it's no big deal. I don't really get the fuss about 'Issues' after everyone went on about it so much, 'Fall' however is a much better ballad.

'Work' is an EXCELLENT next single choice. :D

I must say aftr listening to clips on itunes this is a pretty solid album and shockingly much better than the Sugababes recent effort [God help me for even saying it but its true :(].

They've sort of adopted their own unique style and sound and it's interesting to hear that a lot of the songs are rather mellow and more mature and would definately work well on radio etc.

I shall have to do some downloadingz B)

Bought mine today also! hope the album goes top 10 or even top 5!
How ironic, The Saturdays have the better album than the latest offerings from both GA & Sugababes?

I thought Fall stood out more than Issues as well, at least on the first listen

I much prefer the live version of Issues myself. I agree though that this is a lot better than the Sugababes album and from the sounds of it, possibly GA's aswell.

So far after at LEAST one listen to all the albums:

The Sats>>>>Girls Aloud>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sugababes (after about 6 listens it's not growing)

-_-

after one listen to both GA and Saturdays, and many listens of Sugas, I'd rank them like this

lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Girls Aloud

llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Saturdays

llllllllllllllllllllll Sugababes

still really like Sugas album but the other two are better...I don't see how Out Of Control is a disappointment...aside from maybe two tracks that don't fit, the rest of the album is excellent, much more instant for me that any album of theirs since What Will The Neighbours Say?

If I'm being honest, none of those three albums have bowled me over. I think the Sugababes have the best album by far though. The Saturdays album is a bit dated in places and GA's is quite weak apart from 'The Promise' and a few other songs. They're all decent enough albums but none of them are instant enough.

Well i've got 3 albums that i've listened to today by groups that I really like, being Girls Aloud, Sugababes and The Pussycat Dolls and it's safe to say I am a bit underwhelmed by all of them. But I would rank them like this -

1. Doll Domination

2. Sugababes (JUST)

3. Girls Aloud

Then I thought I would listen to Chasing Lights because i've had it downloaded for a while but am yet to listen to it and I think it beats the other 3 into the ground. :o SUBLIME pop album.

Yeah I agree Kelly, it's a shame The Saturdays will probably sell the least even though their album is better. :(

Indeed. :( They will indeed sell the least, I see quite the bomb (apologies before i'm eaten by the Saturdayers...) coming for the album which is very unfortunate, but hey at least they got to release one. I'm impressed to say the very least though. ^_^

I love this album! Had it downloaded for a few days now and upon first listen I was all <3<3<3 . Bought the cd copy today and have had it on in the car and it's just SO good. I'm SO addicted. Have a few favourites but there isn't a track I don't like to be honest. Not totally convinced by Why Me Why Now but the rest are fab-U-lous especially the 2 singles and then Issues, Fall, Vulnerable, Work, Chasing Lights.

I pray for the girls sake it does well - because they do deserve it. *fingers crossed* They all come over as such lovely people. Mollie.
