Hip-hop superstar Timbaland has cancelled this week's Auckland concert, continuing a bad run of no-show artists in New Zealand.

Timbaland, who had already postponed the show from July 18, was scheduled to perform at Vector Arena in Auckland on August 23 - this coming Saturday.

But a message on www.ticketmaster.co.nz said the shows had been cancelled and full refunds were available.

A press release was issued in Australia confirming the cancellation of Timbaland's Australia and New Zealand tour.

It said: "Timbaland will not be appearing this month in Australia but he looks forward to performing for his Australian fans in the near future."

It said Timbaland had failed to tell promoters he wasn't coming.

"It is with great disappointment we must advise all ticketholders to get refunds from point of purchase because all indications are that Timbaland is not going to show up for the Australian and New Zealand shows even though we have not been officially notified of this intent."

Timbaland was also scheduled to perform in Poland on August 22 - one day before his New Zealand show.

Promoters could not be contacted for further comment.

Other acts to cancel shows in New Zealand recently include Maroon 5, Mary J Blige, and NaS.

Last year, Christina Aguilera was too sick to perform two sold out shows at Vector Arena, and rapper The Game failed to show as part of touring hip-hop festival Roc Tha Block.

Timbaland is one of the world's most in-demand music producers, and has helped create hit albums for Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake and Madonna.
