Love that song

 I love just about every type of music even Jazz & Classical. From Elvis to Eminem, Catatonia to Cliff Richard. From Novelty to Musical, it is very rare that i actually can say that i hate a song ;)

It all depends on what decades you talk about as they vary widely

In the 60s I liked, Pop, Soul, Motown, Reggae, R&B, Rock - in fact most of the music from 1962 onwards

In the 70s I only really liked Pop, Soul, Motown, Reggae, R&B, Rock but hated Punk & Disco - I actually loved Northern Soul

In the 80s I mainly like US Rock - didn't like much UK music apart from pop and Human League

In the 90s I mainly liked Country, European Rock, Techno/Trance, Hardcore and Rave - I became a fan of European music

In 2000's European music, Rock, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Leona & Duffy, also Country. Hate R&B/Hip Hop and Rap, McFly, Westlife, Will Young

Cant argue with that.... "Emo" is without a doubt THE worst sub-category of Rock that there has ever been, dont get me started on the likes of My Comical Romance or Fall Out Boy..... NOT to be confused with "Emotional Hardcore" such as Jimmy Eat World, At The Drive-In or Johnny Truant, some of that stuff was actually pretty damned good.....

Although emo is pretty $h!t, I'd much rather listen to a song by MCR or FOB than anything from Nu-metal/North American Grunge. I'd say that Nickelback, Puddle Of Mudd, POD, Staind, Creed, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, 3 Doors Down, Sum 41, Three Days Grace, Daughtry. There is nothing worse than that at all! :puke:

I like pop, R&B, trance, 2step garage, eurodance, chillout and some house.

Normally I hate anything in the rock genre, especially indie and metal. Though there are some exceptions obviously.

1962....so is that something to do with the beatles or the year you started listening to pop?

do you ever go back further than that?

there is a good feature in froots mag this month about public domain recordings - things from over 50 years ago that are out of copyright as well as featuring a track from the legendary Greek singer Marika Papagika recorded in New York in February 1927,

My taste is very narrow.

I like : Pop , Country + Blondie

I don't have anything against : Britpop, Classic

Dislike : Urban music (Rap, Hip - Hop, Soul, R & B)

Hate : All dance music (from club music to funk & reggae), Hard Rock, Metal

I love all types of music. However, my music taste seems pretty f***ed up when I can listen to Kylie one minute and I can listen to Radiohead the next minute.

Bit like me. From Abba and The Beatles to AC/DC or Def Leppard. I'm a big country fan but like pop and some rock too. Bit of jazz even.

My iTunes is ridiculously vast and varied  My favourite genre is trance, particularly 1998-2003 era, but I've got everything - happy hardcore, jungle, D&B, acid house, breakbeat rave, Eurodance, hard house and dubstep all feature pretty heavily too, and that's just dance music-wise!

Pop, lots of stuff from the last half-decade or so and absolutely tons from the 80s and 90s - the late-90s manufactured pop era is a huge guilty pleasure for me simply for being mega-nostalgic. Also lots of 90s Britpop and some 00s indie too. Some urban/R&B too but it's not a huge amount compared to the other genres.

Nothing classical (basically nothing pre-Beatles) or country, or any really heavy metal or hard rock. As for My Chemical Romance...'The Black Parade' is one of my favourite albums  Almost every track from that album is an iPod favourite, particularly Welcome to the Black Parade which is one of my fave songs of the noughties!

It's good having so many genres though cus it means I can listen to whatever my mood takes me, whether it's pounding trance or crunching guitars or chilled-out ballads. In the last few minutes I've listened to everyone from 2 Unlimited to Suede to the Pet Shop Boys...and as I type now, on comes some late-80s New Order!

My main genres are:

Pop - mainly girlband stuff such through the ages from the Supremes and the Shirlettes to now with Little Mix.

Eurodance - Cascada, Alexandra Stan and Inna with some 90s stuff thrown in - that was the golden era.

Rock - Mainly the power rock of the 80s and 90s..and some heavy metal.

Soul/Urban/R and B - I LOVE THE 90S URBAN/R AND B!!! These songs will never get old! Throw in some rap too but mainly UK acts such as The Streets, Professor Green.

Country, opera, classical - all has their charms :)

Music is a big banquet - why not sample all delights?

I like all types of music, some more than others, and there are good and bad examples in all forms, though I prefer melody and structure.

PS Wichita Lineman, yes, is one of the greatest records of all-time..:)

60s - like a bit of motown and Dusty

70s - bit of Kraftwerk, Bowie, ABBA, Joy Division, Stranglers, Kate Bush

80s - synth-pop, electro-pop, indie, house, acid-house, female-singer/songwriter

90s - indie, britpop, rave, synth-pop, female-singer/songwriter, trance, trip-hop, mainstream hip-hop, IDM

00s - indie, trance, pop, hard-rock, IDM

I generally find most genres acceptable except Irish Country and Opera. I'm not much into hard-core heavy metal or stuff where the guys scream the vocals but I'm always interested in listening to new sounds - avant garde classical, drone rock especially.
