I just saw an article on digitalspy which was titled "Clarkson reveals new single, album details"

I thought it was on about Jeremy Clarkson  What an idiot. That was the first Clarkson I could think of though, I've never clicked on a link so fast I thought 'WTF they're taking the p*** its another FOUR months until April Fool's....'

I really should visit this forum more :P

:( Heres to the Masquerade tour in 2010!

Frank can i ask you to pin this topic please?

Kelly's touring in 2010? :D

Definetly going to that, like Laura didn't catch her on her My December tour.

And I should also visit this forum more, I do love Kelly ALOT tbh

Hmmm... Not sure about the name so far... but Who cares when she's put 'Save You' on the album

But I'm finding it hard to believe that Kelly has picked songs in which she didn't have any writing credits for TBH! Is it possible for the Writing Credits to be fake? Because Kelly likes to be involved quite a bit with writing her own things!

She has a few decent songs (i.e. her first two Luke/Martin singles from 'Breakaway') but for me she has yet to produce a decent full length record. 'Breakaway' felt more like a collection of tracks with totally fake plastered on sentiments. It was Kelly "pretending" ultimately. 'My December' on the other hand was a 180º switch and TOO PERSONAL and self-absorbed and so the music suffered with nil hooks, nothing to latch onto and a generally rough record.

I fully expect a return to the 'Breakaway' theme again. The first single is obv going to be catchy but brainless. Hopefully the Ryan Tedder tracks manage to balance personal with listenable. It's quite a task for Kelly considering she hasn't done it yet. Taking on Katy Perry rejects is a bit of a step in the wrong direction though in all honesty...

I think she's developing really well as an artist. A mix of the great music from Breakaway and the amazing lyrics from MD would be nice!!

Why would Katy 'rejects' be a mistake? I hate this idea that becase another, sometimes inferior, artist has already recorded a song, it shouldn't be taken on. Let us not forget that 'Breakaway' had previously been an Avril Lavigne song.

I also don't think Breakaway was false, it just didn't have a lot of variation, which was fine given how great the highlights were - Gone, Since U Been Gone, Hazel Eyes, Breakaway, Because of You, Walk Away, You Found Me - that album had seven really great songs some of which have defined mainstream pop this decade.

As you said though, I'd like Masquerade to be similar if a little more personal. My December had some strong themes - Sober, Irvine etc weren't your typical post-love songs, whereas Breakaway was all very 'get out, we're so over'. I'd say she's developing as an artist.

Not keen on the new title :(

Reminds me of JoJo's album title

Katy Perry tracks would be a mistake because it's just plain lazy? PERSONALLY I like to see artists write and have input in their music. I find the whole concept of manufactured pop very off putting unless there's a definitive aesthetic to pull me in (as say with Girls Aloud). For Kelly Clarkson to do some Katy Perry covers would not only be a bit "fake" but would it mean anything to her? No. Should it? Well seeing as it's lyrically quite personal (I assume) then yes she should. I view Katy Perry as a brainless moronic artist who has little depth or interest in music. That's through listening and actually having the misfortune of meeting her at the end of last year. So what if 'Breakaway' was a cover? That doesn't change anything that just highlights what puppetry 'Breakaway' was.

I still maintain that 'Breakaway' was fake. It had technically brilliant songs in 'Hazel Eyes' and esp 'Since U Been Gone' (a noughties classic the latter being) but recording songs with titles like 'My Life Would Suck Without You' and singing them with little/no meaning would be all good and well for say Girls Aloud but Kelly's done 'My December' she's shown us she has depth, she's intelligent etc so to reverse back to slovenly, undoubtedly formulaic pop-rock-by-numbers is a disapointment. I'd personally rather have seen her refine the ideas behind 'My December' and put them into a more palatable, encompassing guise.

That might be nice, yes, but she was only allowed to release My December if the follow-up was the label's album as opposed to her own, so I guess this is that. The good news being that if this is a smash she'll be allowed some control again so you're 'refined My December' concept could come alive. The situation is really no different from P!nk's situation - M!ssundaztood/Breakaway massive pop classics, Try This/My December comparitive flops, I'm Not Dead/All I Ever Wanted commercial follow-ups, Funhouse and presumably Kelly's 5th album being a nice compromise of personal and radio-friendly.

Yes Popjustice who is a proper music journalist and has been told by RCA that that is the title...
Popjustice. Change the topic title please... :teresa: All I Ever Wanted [Album Discussion] would be good. :P
