I don't buy any conspiracy theories either. Fact of the matter is the standard of refereeing is very poor, and these "top" UEFA officals are refereeing leagues sometimes at the standard of League 1, 2 and the Conference and let me tell you now they're A LOT worse than the standard of refereeing in the Premier League.

Personally I thought the idea was to score 1 more than the opposition than cry everytime a man goes down in the box :kink: :heehee:
  • 3 weeks later...

Barcelona: Valdes, Puyol, Toure, Pique, Sylvinho, Busquets, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Eto'o, Henry.

Subs: Pinto, Caceres, Gudjohnsen, Krkic, Keita, Rodriguez, Muniesa.

Man Utd: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Ronaldo, Rooney.

Subs: Kuszczak, Berbatov, Nani, Scholes, Rafael, Evans, Tevez.

If Manchester United don't walk this Final (with Barca missing 3 of their normal back 4 due to injury & suspension) then there is something badly wrong with them.

Quite honestly I think Man Utd should win at a canter 4-0 unless Fergie gets his tactics wrong.

Is no one watching this?

Apart from the first ten minutes, Man United getting owned first half, playing like a bunch of statues (obviously the Berbatov influence) whilst Barca silkly pass the ball around the park.

A shock scoreline at half-time. Made more annoying knowing how Chelski so easily cut out the supply to Messi, Eto, & Iniesta so frequently in their Semi Final. I never expected this. But at the very least I expected Manchester United to turn up. Whilst Vidic is the same player who played at Old Trafford v Liverpool in March.

They need to bring on Tevez, and stop leaving Rooney hung out to dry on the left-wing.

I cannot believe Manchester United will be as awful as they were in the first 45 minutes, but it is as if knowing most of the country actually wants them to win for once, they are doing the reverse.

0-2

What is up with Manchester United????

Did Michel Platini slip sleeping tablets into the water at the hotel they stayed in Rome or what?

I can rarely recall such an unexpected shocking triple P in such a major match..... :o

But as the old saying goes "it ain't over until ......"

i was looking forward to going to the man u parade in manchester tomorrow but it looks like it wont be happening now!

That was an absolute annihilation.

2-0 nowhere near flatters them tonight with the number of clear cut chances they had.

Manchester United paid badly for their arrogance tonight. They knew, the football pundit experts knew, the bookmakers knew all they had to do was turn up tonight against a tired Barca side suffering from fatigue, suspension and injuries at the end of a long season, and they would win.

The problem was that Manchester United did not turn up. Barca were streets ahead of them in every single department tonight.

The most frustrating thing is that Chelski fans know and Liverpool fans know that Barca were/are very beatable and are not the best side in Europe. But (the best side in Europe apparently) Manchester United blew it big big time tonight from the shocking team selection by SAF downwards.

That was an utterly dreadful performance from Man Utd tonight, I don't remember seeing them play so badly in recent times. Not one player can come out with any real credit tonight. Ronaldo was bright for the first 20 minutes or so, creating a few decent chances for himself, VDS made some good saves but other than that, everyone was well below their average. 4s & 5s out of 10 all around.

Barcelona were simply brilliant and proved in many ways why English football (well English players and managers anyway) are so far behind their European counterparts. I think one thing Sir Alex will be regretting tonight is selling Gerard Pique for such a tiny sum of money. He was immense and helped lead a patchwork back four brilliantly. Huge credit must go to Pep Guardiola. If Fergie can become a sir after winning the treble with United after so much time then he deserves far more plaudits for doing it in his debut season.

And finally... Ryan Giggs tonight proved the PFA player of the year went to the wrong candidate.

My feelings about the whole thing have been summed up already, Utd were truly shocking tonight, not that I am complaining ;) outside of the first 10 mins of the game and a spell 20 mins from the end it was so 1 sides that if it was a boxing match the ref would have stopped it

Great to see the Bulgarian Judas end up without a CL winners medal not that he looks like he cares

Like Rich I thought it would be a massacre tonight given Barca's makeshift defence

Well been the bitter fan I am, I wanted Man Utd to lose, but I seriously expected them to put in a much better performance than that. It was absolutely terrible. Arrogance? I'm not sure. But I would seriously ask questions of Mr. Ferguson if I was a Man Utd fan. There didn't seem to be any gameplan as to how to stop their midfield. Now Man Utd have a good team but their midfield is light years away from Barcelona's. If you stop Iniesta and Xavi from getting a hold of the game then you can stop Barcelona, but I saw none of this from Man Utd.

Giggs was terrible, just couldn't get into the game at all. Vidic was just all over the shop and was very similar to at Olf Trafford. Berbatov once again showed why he was worth £30m... without wanting to sound like im putting Man Utd down, they really were just way off the pace today, and were given a complete lesson in football. At least Man Utd fans can accept the better team won on the night (as most of the fans i've seen/seen Facebook statuses seem to acknowledge this...) and they just were not in the game at all apart from the beginning.

Agreed with all the above posts really, absolutley dreadful performance. We started well for the first 10 minutes only to be owned for every second after Etoo's goal. Our midfield lacked any depth or attacking play to it, Giggs + Park were truly awful on the night continually giving balls away and Rooney, Tevez and Berba were nowhere to be seen because we couldn't even get the ball up there. Fair play to Barcelona though, the better team on the night won.

See! I told you we wouldn't win! As I thought we would would do we basically played exactly the same way we did against Arsenal with Giggs replacing Anderson which may in a way make sense as in some ways Arsenal are similar to Barcelona but Barcelona pose a completely different kind of threat to Arsenal thus we were ripped apart!

Fair play to Barca they basically won back all the respect I lost for them by actually justifying why they think they're the best team in Europe by beating the now 2nd best. :( Now I just hope that was not the last time I saw Tevez in a United shirt.

Tbh i'm still in complete shock as to how Man Utd played that badly. :| And I hate Man Utd. Every single player just boiled over. My gut instinct tells me that it was half Fergie's tactics, and half the complete shock of Barcelona getting that goal. I don't think Man Utd will ever get an easier run to the final again as they did do this season either. Scholes should have been sent off last night as well, he can count himself lucky imo.

Imo its definitely the last time Tevez and Ronaldo have pulled on the Man Utd jersey as well. For their last games, they both had absolutely terrible performances.

Terrible performance from Utd.

But I guess Blatter and Platini will be absolutely thrilled that an English team didn't win <_<
