Having said that I hope McCain gets the Presidency, Obama is a brilliant orator but appears to me to be all soundbites and style and no substance, would I buy a used car or a timeshare or snake oil off Obama ? you bet - is he qualified or fit to be president ? not in my opinion

Just like David Cameron then.

So what do we know about Sarah Palin? She called her sons Track and Trig and her daughters Bristol  , Willow and Piper. And people say Barack Obama's got a funny name.
You don't still believe in the trickle-down theory of wealth do you? It sound's good but IT DOESN'T WORK. The people who benefited from Bush's tax cuts already had far more than they could possibly spend so why would they spend any more?

I want to see low tax for ALL but I don't want it paid for and subsidised by the wealth creators, professionals, entrepreneurs and others on high tax, not everyone who pays top rate tax inherited their wealth most studied for years at university or started businesses from scratch or went through 7 years of medical school or whatever, I don't want to see them penalised to subsidise those at the lower end of the food chain

Just like David Cameron then.

Can't compare Obama with Cameron, Obama is probably the best orator since Hitler and right up there with the likes of Martin Luther King whereas Cameron is a decent guy with some charisma, he is not in Obama's league as an orator

This whole 'trickle-down economics' thing has been in motion since Reagan and it has yet to work. I would think after 30 or so years, people would realize that it's all a bunch of lies to give the rich more money than they already need. I suppose not.

I don't really "get this" to be honest. It's hardly going to trick any old Hillary supporters to voting GOP. In fact, it seems more like an insult to their intelligence. Playing the "look there's a woman on the ticket" card.

That said, conservatives are going to love it. Great way to increase the lead in states John McCain will be winning anyway.

She is a very smart woman, can see her as a future presidential candidate but I think her time has come 4 years too soon

McCain at 72 has had 4 battles with cancer and is an elderly man, if he were to get seriously ill or even die in office then we would have a president with 2 years experience politically in charge of the most important country in the world and that is a scary thought its like putting a boy racer who has just passed his test into an F1 race, I think that Romney or Rice or someone should have been VP, someone with a lot of political experience

But what you forget or - more likely - choose to ignore is that people at the lower end of the food chain (to use your rather patronising words) are doing essential jobs. We need people to keep the streets clean and to collect our rubbish. When you go out to eat, don't you rely on the fact that someone has washed the plates you eat from and the cutlery you use?

I hope Obama wins. America and the world needs a change and McCain would mean attacking Iran probably and maybe World War 3. He's not to be trusted. Palin has even less experience than Obama and would be a 72 year-old's heartbeat away from the top job.

Of course it's a lie, but you forget, Craig (AKA, B A Baracus) is a Thatcherite.... He honestly, genuinely believes in this whole 'greed is good' guff....

"Trickle Down" benefits NO ONE in society except the rich, it does NOT do a damn thing for ordinary, working class people and it actually creates an underclass forced to live below the poverty line.... Chav Culture (and in your case in the States, the proliferation of Street Gang culture from about the 80s onwards...) and "Bling" is a direct symptom of Thatcherism/Reaganomics, people like "Fiddy" Cent who have the incredibly socially destructive "get rich or die trying" mentality have come out of this dangerous Right Wing idea that there is "no such thing as society" and "greed is good".....

Tories and Republicans are the scum of the Earth.... <_<

Let's say McCain wins and dies or has to step down for health reasons and she becomes President, she'd then lose, in my opinion, to Hillary in 2012. If Obama wins in November then Palin won't be heard of again.

The best way to bring about a more prosperous society is to reduce the tax burden on the rich and then the wealth trickles down into other areas, reduce tax for the wealthy brings about more consumer spending and retail sales and more money for these guys to expand their businesses and this in turn leads to more jobs being created and a better standard of living for all

What, like Reagan did? I do seem to recall the lower classes got f***ed over then too...

I do like her right wing conservative credentials though

I love how people think McCain, who is basically George Bush 3, would help our nation. Everyone talks bout how inexperienced Obama is and that is why they don't want him to be elected...well he just picked a VP that has all of the experience of governing Alaska for al of TWO years! WHOO SHE'S SURE EXPERIENCED.

Secondly, Obama is a Christian..but atleast he recognizes that other religions and social groups that don't run with the Christian faith deserve rights as well. He recognizes that gay marriage is an issue, he recognizes that the church should not only be seperated from the church, but the church sould also not effect the state either. He also recognizes that something is not right and we do need a change. While McCain think he should just raise taxes and stay in Iraq, and everything will magically get better. McCain sounds AMAZING if your part of the narrow minded dumbf***s of America that can't realize what EQUALITY really stands for.

... And Anti Abortion.

Okay it just keeps getting better. Turns out that Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter has been pregnant for five months! And She's "going to marry" the boy who knocked her up. UN-FUKKING-BELIEVABLE!

This is a woman who has demanded "abstinence-only" education for her entire career. During the 2006 Gubernatorial campaign form in Alaska:

Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?

Palin's Response: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.

And the Republicans are saying this is a private, family matter. EXCUSE ME?! This is a woman (and a party) whose anti-gay, anti-abortion rights stances have brought the private, family matters of MILLIONS OF PEOPLE into the public eye.

Also the woman has a newborn baby with Down's Syndrome. Want to know why? Because she was 44 years old when she had the baby earlier this year. Studies have shown for DECADES that women who have babies post age 40 present HUGE risks of genetic disorders to their newborns. But, no doubt, Sarah Palin believes contraception is wrong. And God provides. Well great, now you've got a little boy with Down's Syndrome. Hope you're happy with yourself, Sarah.

So now we have a woman who has FIVE children, including one special-needs newborn baby and a pregnant daughter (who she is forcing to MARRY shotgun, which is unbelievably stupid, intolerant, ignorant, etc) who could be DANGEROUSLY close to the highest position of leadership in the country and one of the highest positions of leadership on this Earth.

Absolutely SHOCKING and unacceptable. This goes beyond politics. The woman needs to resign as VP contender. I don't care if it helps John McCain's campaign. John McCain or not, it would be unbelievably irresponsible to put this woman within 1 heart attack of the Presidency of the United States.

My sister had her two children when she was 41 and 45 so I can't agree with you on that point.

But as for Palin's daughter :heehee: Did nobody think to tell McCain? If Palin hadn't been so outspoken her daughter's condition would be irrelevant. As it is, she's made a rod for her own back.

Yeah I may be going too far to suggest what I did about her newborn baby, but as you said, if she wasn't such an outspoken critic of sexual education, contraceptives, abortion rights, etc - I'd never have the grounds to suggest her refusal to use contraceptives may have led to a risky, unplanned birth.

I know! She says the "explicit" sex education will never have her support. She doesn't want her 17 year old to learn the "explicit" details of sex because it's better to tell kids not to have sex.

Well guess what, Sarah, your 17 year old learned the "explicit" details of sex herself and now she'll experience the "explicit" details of childbirth herself.

They are her individual private opinions, they are not some uniform right wing textbook it is a ridiculous stereotype to assume that every right winger is a sheep who believes in everything she does they are her own private views
