Posted June 5, 200619 yr Embrace Cup song 'outsells rivals' England's official World Cup song by Embrace is outselling its rivals by more than two to one, according to first day sales figures. World At Your Feet, chosen by the Football Association, is proving to be the fans' favourite. Crazy Frog's We Are The Champions is in second place, followed by Tony Christie and Is This The Way To The World Cup? The Tonedef Allstars are fourth with Who Do You Think You Are Kidding Jurgen Klinsmann? and We're England by the Talksport Allstars is fifth. The first day figures are from Woolworths, the UK's biggest singles seller. World At Your Feet has had a lukewarm reception from the critics. The song makes no reference to England, the World Cup or football. And although it is outselling its football rivals, it looks unlikely to reach number one this Sunday. Nelly Furtado is currently on course for the top spot with her single Maneater. A Woolworths spokesman said: "World At Your Feet looks set to be the biggest-selling World Cup song. Embrace have sold double the number of records as anyone else and are fighting off the big challenges from Tony Christie and the Crazy Frog. "With over 30 England anthems being released for the World Cup, competition for sales is the fiercest it has ever been for footie anthems."
June 5, 200619 yr Well deserved. Pure tunage  The football songs can go die. Agreed. -_- GO NELLY! :cheer:
June 5, 200619 yr well i think embrace are a great band and i have enjoyed all their album,,Nelly furtado in the runing for number 1 isnt a shock after seeing the single debut at number 8 on downloads,,however prior to seeing sundays chart i would have never expected her to be even a challange for the top spot especially when her last few singles didnt do that great,,still i like nelly furtado and iits good to see her comeback doing very well
June 6, 200619 yr She is gonna be huge. I think it will have the same sort of impact that 'Don't Cha' did last year. Surprise hit.
June 6, 200619 yr Embrace would reach the top 10, top 5 maybe, with a new song regardless of its content. Yup, chances are only 0.5% of its sales are to "football fans" who have all gone out and bought c**p tie-ins with national media instead...or awful cover versions with the word England stuck in the title. At least the Embrace fans will have a song they'll listen to in a month's time.
June 6, 200619 yr so where is Neil and Christine Hamilton with England Is Jolly Dee? has that been let out?
June 7, 200619 yr It sold two copies. Guess who bought them? They deserve to take all the unsold copies home and find a use for them.
June 8, 200619 yr Yes...I don't think it's even for charity. Talk about a couple of desperate old duffers.
