I forget these AF exist as they are all just 'pop pop pop'

I shall looks though :D

personally i much prefer her more intelligent adult pop she was producing ten years ago to the 'old slag' porno she does now <_<.

it isnt needed, kate bush, siouxsie sioux are of the same age and dont resort to slaggishness .

I agree, Ray Of Light is by far, her best album. The only track I skip on it is "Mer Girl" - bit too much for me

Fav track: Hmmm, I'd probably go with Little Star

indeed we do have a madonna forum, however we can only bum her up in there, here we can be critical ... besides, she is a retro artiste! :)

:) the point is there ;)

Ray Of Light is her best album, definitely! I prefer her "old" albums too <_< and yes, those are my personal favorites as well

Nothing will ever top that album, it's so different and has a soul :D

The Power Of Goodbye is one of my fave videos ever! Great to see her and Goran together heehee

I wish we could just go 10 years back :(

The general sentiment here seems to be that Ray Of Light is her best album, and good, because it is.

Like Mushy says, it's kind of embarrasing seeing her rolling about on the floor in her underwear singing cheesy ditties masquerading as urban tracks.

It's ESPECIALLY embarrasing because after Ray Of Light, we all KNOW she is capable of mature, credible and gorgeous pop.

The Power Of Goodbye, Frozen, Sky Fits Heaven, Drowned World...all FANTASTIC.

Yup! "Ray of Light" is her greatest acomplishment. The main difference between Kylie and Madonna is Madonna is a better album singer, Kylie is a better singles singer.

I think 'Confessions on a Dancefloor' comes a close second to this, and let's also not forget her first ever album. Pure vintage 80s electro soul.

It is the only Madonna album I own, enough said

Frozen, Like A Prayer, Hung Up, Vogue, Ray Of Light, Live To Tell > Spinning Around, Especially For You I Should Be So Lucky, Slow, Come On Baby Do The Locomotion

yeah The Power Of Goodbye, Frozen, Drowned World are great

however a few months back I got Madonna's 80 greatest hits album cheap - and i wish i hadn't as it wasnt very good and think i will stick with newer ones like Music and Confessions on a Dancefloor than getting anything really old....and ive just got I'm Going to Tell You a Secret to watch. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund so it should be worth a watch...

think hung up has to be her best track tho...great use of an abba sample (even better than the tamperer!!!) and a great video by Johan Renck.....

Stakka Bo & Titiyo - We Vie

Stakka Bo - Here We Go

Stakka Bo - ...the swedish stereo mc getting deep down and dirty...perhaps  - going straight on Down the Drain

Frozen, Like A Prayer, Hung Up, Vogue, Ray Of Light, Live To Tell > Spinning Around, Especially For You I Should Be So Lucky, Slow, Come On Baby Do The Locomotion

and no mention of Confide In Me???

"Fig 927: PWL Recording artistee Kirsty Hawkshaw with one of her versions of Edward Barton's Confide In Me, perhaps"

"Fig 435: An Emilíana Torrini song covered by that there Tricky Kid from that massive band Massive Attack"

Yeah, this is a pretty astonishing album. Aside from the singles my two joint favourites are Swim and Sky Fits Heaven. Skin and Candy Perfume Girl are also incredible pieces.

As for Madonna being a stronger albums artist than Kylie... I can't say I agree. Madonna albumswise is very patchy, both American Life and Hard Candy absolutely suck something fierce. Music is quite decent, Confessions was brilliant and I respected her for trying to fill the gap in the pop/dance market when bland R&B was dominating.

but the mints were alright in a seaside rock kinda way....

Frozen, Like A Prayer, Hung Up, Vogue, Ray Of Light, Live To Tell > Spinning Around, Especially For You I Should Be So Lucky, Slow, Come On Baby Do The Locomotion

Better The Devil You Know, Love At First Sight, Confide In Me, I Believe In You > True Blue, American Life, Hollywood, Dear Jessie.

Two can play that game!

And that's where she has contradicted herself. :heehee:

Tbh, I've never been a Madonna fan, and I don't think I'd want to even attempt to listen through a whole album of her. :/ Even back in her early days, she just doesn't appeal to me as an artist. I think this is one of the best descriptions of Madonna I've ever read;

"a third-rate dancer, fifth-rate singer and, frankly, unclassifiably bad actress who pursued fame and fortune for the past quarter century with all the restraint and dignity of a rat up a drainpipe — only to end up singing whiney cr*p like: “I traded fame for love/ Without a second thought/ It all became a silly game/ Some things cannot be bought/ And now I find/ I’ve changed my mind...” ".
