It'll be interesting to see if it gain some momentum as the week progresses or whether it was a big first day fanbase buy and slips tomorrow. It'll be lucky to shift 30k this week tbh based on its current position

what im a little worried about is the album could slip out of the top 10 as its a hecrtic week in the album chart and number 8 is risky,,still i dont think it will happen

wow .. mr. popjustice said that this was one of the WORST songs of the 21st century! but it is NOT, it's AMAZING! It's up-tempo and i like amelle her verses, a bit '90's feeling!

imo they chose a stupid week to release - i think they will struggle for top 5 which is disappointing.

I cant actually believe this, i thought a top 5 placing with sales of 45k were certain. Its a shame actually, i mean Amelle must feel like a bad omen, but she's not at all - IMO she's the best thing the band has ever had/done.

 

I think the problem is that Suga's sell albums off the back of their lead single (which is usually massive) so many people havent bought it after the average chart performance of 'Girls'. It could be saved with the next single (although i dont think it can leap back up from the depths of top 40/75 where it will be once NCD is released) and sell some more copies. Although we could be looking at their lowest selling album since 'One Touch' though, not good ... though they'll never get dropped.

They've just signed their new Island Records contract (-_-) so they're not going to get dropped

It won't go top 5, which is a shame as the album does have some good songs and is overall stronger than Change I would say.

 

It's like I said in the midweek thread, who exactly in the music buying public outside of their fanbase is going to be persuaded to buy an album solely after hearing 'Girls'? Not many at all.

I totally agree with you Coolnav. :( It's a real shame, but hopefully it can at the very least hold up throughout the week, and perhaps climb a spot or two.

 

I've done a u-turn though - No Can Do must NOT be released. Whatsoever. Every Heart Broken is what will get the album into the Top 10 at Christmas, nothing else...

Girls - Possibly there worst lead song, although I am slightly fond of it. 7.5/10

You On A Good Day - Love this! Very catchy with an addictive chorus, 10/10

No Can Do - Nice song, not best song on album but by no means worst. 9.3/10

Hanging On A Star - I would love this to be released, very unique and amazing! 10/10

Side Chick - A new style for the sugababes - and I absolutely love it, hope it becomes a single. 10/10

Unbreakable Heart - Really like this, I think this song could have an amzing music video 9/10

Sunday Rain - Good song, but not a sugababes classic, Imo. 8.5/10

Every Heart Broken - Should be the second single, love this. 10/10

Beware - Different, in a good way. 8.5/10

Nothing's As Good As You - I love this so much and I think it's going to still grow on me! 9.5/10

Overall, I think the album is definitely their best (as you can tell by every singles high mark), I love the new sound: 9/10

People need to stop saying it was a stupid week to release, Girls is responsible for this and i doubt much can save the album its certaintly a very average one.

I might as well do a review then. I give realistic marks by the way, I've noticed a lot of people saying 'quite good, not the best' and proceeding to give it 9/10 or higher or saying it's alright and giving it 8/10 :rolleyes: :lol:

 

Girls - atrocious, whoever thought this would make a good lead single from an album as good as this needs shooting 1/10

 

You On A Good Day - excellent, brilliant chorus 8/10

 

No Can Do - I agree with Grami on the Jackson 5 comment, sounds a bit like I Want You Back in places...very good song, not sure it will make a good single, probably won't go top ten 8/10

 

Hanging On A Star - I don't understand why Popjustice panned this song, I like it a lot, the chorus is great 8/10

 

Side Chick - brilliant, like the spiritual successor to Robyn's Handle Me 9/10

 

Unbreakable Heart - good song, nice chorus 7/10

 

Sunday Rain - nice layered vocals in the chorus of this, like this one too 7.5/10

 

Every Heart Broken - I echo the sentiments of most people here, excellent song, should have been the first single really... 9/10

 

Beware - don't think much of this 4/10

 

Nothing's As Good As You - nice chorus again, infectious 8/10

 

Sound Of Goodbye - sounds like a grower, not doing much for me at the moment 5/10

on the whole, I'd give the album 8.5/10. The only song I really dislike is Girls, although Beware and Sound Of Goodbye don't do anything for me either really...the bonus tracks are pointless too...other than that, a great selection of songs :D

Album stickers always say that. :/ The Change one said 'includes the hits About You Now and Change'. It's not unusual.

what if its not a hit though? I think it should have just said Girls
