I actually love sarahs bit but i'm not a blind GA fan, i can see why some dont.

I do think it will grow on a lot of people though and i do respect sarah for going for it. She really doesnt ruin the song does she?

The new Girls Aloud single had its first play on Radio 1 last night and, to put it mildly, it's not what anyone was expecting. It's neither a 'Call The Shots'-style pop romp nor a floorfiller in the 'Something Kinda Ooooh' vein. Hell, it's not even a ballad.

So, what it is then? Well, if you asked Girls Aloud and Xenomania, their producers, to come up with a new song for the Dirty Dancing musical, it would probably sound like 'The Promise'. That's right, Girls Aloud have gone sixties.

"Oh balls," you're probably thinking, "Not them as well!" But 'The Promise' is actually really good - a cute, wistful pop song that feels like a semi-distant relative to to 'Can't Speak French'. There's a groovy "one, two, three, four!" intro, some nice Spectorish touches in the production and a lovely classic-sounding melody.

In summary: it's hard to get your head round at first, but Girls Aloud are still very much on form. If you haven't heard it yet, radio rips are easy enough to find on YouTube.

lol

First Listen - f***ing Dreadful

3rd Listen - Dreadful

I'm sure if i had a spare half hour it would grow to the point where i don't mind it but first impressions of it are dreadful. The start is too bad for words and the verses are bland. The chorus is pretty decent, shame its all quite run together. and the only real instrumental break is after the middle 8

Love it even more, Radio 1 played it again today in my college's lunch break and you could see quite a few eyes prick up. All my mates love it after a few listens.

I've played it 25 times now, It gets better each time :D

Miles and miles better than 'Girls' which is just a joke really

i really like this song, but its not as good as Call The SHots

I caught the premiere.

Probably one of my least favourite Girls Aloud songs, BUT, it's completely different to anything they've ever done before so they get heaps of plus points for that. The chorus is insanely catchy, though I'm not keen on the rest, particularly the slightly horrific intro.

As for 'Girls', this is about a million times better than that god-awful piece of trash.

My friend who was listening to the premiere with me really liked the song though.

LOLOL.

And I bet you bum 'Girls'.

News on the video ;

Its set in a drive thru cinema. Also the dancers will play the girls boyfriends in the cinema, and then they will become part of the film they are watching.
Hmm, i know it doesnt give that much away but it doesnt really sound that good.
Listened to this a lot now and I just cant get away with it. Its a sad day when both Girls Aloud and Sugabaes come back with very average first singles. So far im liking Sugababes more but that aint really saying much.
Dont like it to begin with hopefully it will grow on me though.

this may sound silly but what is a drive thru cinema? i have never heard of one

the video sounds kinda interesting

See its comments like that that i actually listen to as you have a way of making it believeable.

Some here obviously hate on the promise deliberately and its so obvious. These are the ones you just get to ignore.

lol i think they mean drive-in. I heard it was drive in early this morning and i think its been chinese whispers throughout the day.

 i see, i googled it and know what one is now

I am a big fan though, so I'd never just b**ch them down deliberately. I have to say though, I haven't properly loved a single of theirs since 'Something Kinda Oooh', although Tangled Up had quite a few corkers on the album.
