ooooo there's a flashback to my youth used to love deuce. on the bible was pure classic cheese
i liked i need you and it should have gone to eurovision, who beat them that year??

If I Need You was 1996, it was Gina G who beat them.

How can you do a thread on Deuce and miss out their best song IMHO which I personally think is superior to anything Steps & Scooch did....

Deuce - On The Bible (1995 UK#13)

If I'm right they were managed by Tom Watkins who was responsible for Bros & East 17, and I know that Lisa in the group went on to marry Ant (out of Ant & Dec).

I agree, On The Bible was their best song.

Indeed!

On The Bible still rocks!

It is quite an under-rated album actually, it's got some great dancey production on it. Oh, and 'Call It Love' and 'On The Bible' are two of the BEST pop songs of the 90s, hands down. Pure pop perfection *.*

I bought the boxset and have been enjoying it, especially several of the alternative mixes. Nice to finally have the 'Eurovision Version' of I Need You that was performed on Top of the Pops and presumably would have been used if it had gone to the contest.

The three big singles are by far the best thing about the album but I enjoyed a few others too (I never listened to the album in full before weirdly).

The song with Sherrie Hewson is one of the strangest things on the album, seemed to come out of nowhere with no context but I read up and realised it was on a Coronation Street compilation album at the time

Just to correct this 16 years on as I missed it at the time, Love City Groove beat them as it was 1995. To be fair, Love City Groove at least ended up peaking higher (No.7) and hanging around the chart for longer than I Need You (No.10). Maybe they were a year too early, or maybe On The Bible or Call It Love could have beaten Love City Groove.
