If these 'real musicians' that you speak of really didn't care about the chart positions then why would they sign their contracts in the first place?

As someone said before, it's a music business and all musical acts have their own ways of marketing the albums/singles.

Oasis used to perform on TOTP and such programmes, but they've built up a big enough fan base to not have to promote their records.

They also have completely different fan bases and there's nothing wrong with either of them.

You can say whatever you like about Girls Aloud, but at the end of the day, you're either stupid or extremely ignorant if you disagree with someone who says that Girls Aloud have been hugely successful.

And finally... on the xenomania front... if it aint broke, don't fix it.

If they're getting their first stand-alone number one in 2008, surely they must be getting better.

It's your opinion on whether this is their best material, but 50 odd thousand people can't be wrong?

No, it´s not, it´s just plain truth...

Chart sucess usually don´t fit with musical sucess.

Real musicians are interested just in music, and they usually pass far from the Top 10 in music charts. Trendy pop acts like GA are more interested in the "celebrity" life then the music itself. That´s the reason they invest everything in promo and end up sucessful. A song can still be c**p and reach the top spot. GA proves it again this week. Real musicians know that they don´t have much chances of commercial sucess in charts that are dominated by manufactured girls that can´t even play an instrument.

You say that with Janet Jackson in your name

lolz - you look so depressed about it! I have fallen in love with Cheryl too :o I think that Xenomania write the songs

Coz i would love to  Shag her(but it aint gonna happen) :( its doing my head in  she is so damn cute FFS ;)

thats why probably i enjoy Girls aloud :o

I love u cheryl

oh are Girls aloud known anywhere else? appart from Uk + Ireland? do they tour any where else or is it just stricky around the british isles?

In Germany they tried to chart with Sound Of The Underground. That song reached # 42. No other singles have been released out there (or just haven't charted inside the top 100).

I think they didn't release any other singles in Germany. At least you can buy some of their albums in some record stores, I bought their Best Of 2 years ago.

I think they're only well known in online music communities, but that's it.

I think you have gone on a bit of a tangeant now. This thread was about predicting where the promise would chart.

No, they´re just a local act, and a minor one. Until they have at least 1 million selling album, they can´t be considered among the heavyweights of british music.

By the way, I never said they are not sucessful... But they definitely aren´t among the biggest, if you compare them with real big british artists.

Aw good leave it, you just look desperate now.

Dido doesn't deserve to have such terrible fans :(

It's a tough argument. On the one hand, as you said Bertie, nobody knows the girls like Brian and their work has produced magic time and again.

On the other hand, working with Xeno it's hard to get a song with lyrics with real emotion, because the Xeno team simply take lyrics from tens of songs and bung them together in one, in the vain of a scrapbook, and so most of the songs make little or no sense.

I really believe they should work with other producers alongside Xenomania. If the work with other people didn't have that Xeno magic, they wouldn't need to include it on the album, but trying couldn't hurt. Artists should constantly push themselves and with Xeno now they're in a comfort zone imo.

I disagree! Without Xenomania they'd be NOTHING imo. Xeno write brilliant pop music and have helped to give GA an identity and so it's kinda like ABBA really with their songwriters now. They get more of a say in their material then they used to but I don't think 1. They'd be allowed to work with anyone else and 2. I don't think any other producers would be as open for them to have a say in their material as Xeno are.

They have done ok like i said before ... but they are no way up their with the biggest ;) . I really dont know why they don't shift more albums though? they are great looking ;), they have catchy tunes, Amazing promotion, they always appear on TV shows etc .. but they still haven't taken it to that higher level. In terms of overall sales :s

Maybe this album will be the one that goes that little bit further ???... they have got off to a good start so far with a #1 single that has been recieved pretty well amongst the public.

right i have done abit of research as i was curious to see what GA have done outside of the uk.

Albums couldn't really find any info :o apart from UK+ ireland,

Congrats to them. Song isn't near as good as some of their others (The Show, Biology  ) but it's still a good track.
