September 15, 200816 yr I see what you're saying but 'Bleeding Love' was really different from all the other American videos, whereas this doesn't really stand out as it is similar to man other video's :( and correct me if i'm wrong, does that mean everyone has to go all american if they want a video to have 'fun, Vibrancy and Energetic' in it? Look i like the video but it just shocked me as to how American it was. That's fine, it's just not an issue to me where things are made as long as I like them. :)
September 15, 200816 yr Thats exactly what i thought and surely most spirit owners are at the opposite end of the market? I see your point, but I wouldn't call it "chavvy" lol. I love this song mainly because it's catchy and it shows a different side to Leona also proving that she can do up-tempo. Of course she's always going to be better at singing big ballad/R&B numbers such as BL, but it's nice to change the style a little bit otherwise things get boring and predictable. I would love another #1, but I would still be very happy with Top 3/5 which I think is almost guaranteed.
September 15, 200816 yr Yeah, it is quite American but not American in a bad way such as Love Like This.
September 15, 200816 yr I really don't like it. Doesn't seem like the sort of song that grows on me either.
September 15, 200816 yr I'd say #1. I usually like Dido and Girls Aloud heaps more than Leona but I think she has the best song out of them all this time. I think Leona will get the #1, while Dido and Girls Aloud battle for the #3.
September 15, 200816 yr Well its the 1st single from the re-release of 'spirit' in November, so def top 3, and send the album back into the top 10 for christmas. Edited September 15, 200816 yr by kangarooz
September 15, 200816 yr her fanbase will take her to #1 not because its a good track or a memorable one at that, imo she isn't distinctive at all, she is still a karaoke queen. can emulate mariah, whitney and now...on this song at times she sings like toni braxton, deblah morgan and deborah cox all wrapped up in a mariah carey type video. very americanized totally tailoured to that market.

LOL wow a singer who can sound like all those people. Or maybe, just maybe, she actually sounds like Leona.
September 15, 200816 yr LOL wow a singer who can sound like all those people. Or maybe, just maybe, she actually sounds like Leona. I actually caught a trace of Gwennie in there on this song! I think that's the bit I like! Norma
September 15, 200816 yr LOL wow a singer who can sound like all those people. Or maybe, just maybe, she actually sounds like Leona. Agreed, I think her voice is instantly recognisable and she doesn't sound like she's imitating anyone in particular. The only times I think she has sounded particularly like an artist is on a few of her Mariah/Whitney performances on the X Factor where I'm sure she was going the wrong way about it and was trying to sound exactly like the original, rather than making it her own version. She can emulate Whitney and Mariah but I think on the material she's released she just sounds like Leona. Nearly every artist today will sound like someone or something that's been done before - we're at a point where recording artists have been around for so long that it's hard not to be linked back to a particular artist or sound unless you're a very experimental talent. It just seems like Leona is one of the main targets when it comes to comparisons probably because her success has been 'handed to her on a plate'.

Seriously, I've heard her compared to about 20 singers who all don't sound the same so how is it possible she sounds like them all? It's ridiculous. Yeah singing those artists songs there is an obvious comparison and her high notes are similar to Mariah but her tone is unique to her.

I wish i had the brains to come up with a reply like that. I read the post earier and you just said what i wanted to say but me being the thicko i am couldn't write it down in words!
September 15, 200816 yr I do kind of know what people mean though because she doesnt sound like leona because she never even sang a song like this on x-factor and certainly not her album. But then again, this sound is not fresh, its very average (unlike spirit) but i cant pin point one artist that it sounds like so i would probably say quite a few aswell. September 15, 200816 yr Don't be surprised if you see this peaking at #21 ;) . I'm serious! Akon still going on about Convicted  oh erm..I can assure you I would be absolutely gobsmacked if it missed the top 20. fanbase alone will assure it top 10 the song is good nothing groundbreaking but catchy and good for radio-and the video is colourful. comfortable top 3/5. maybe an eyelash chance of no.1 if its performed on xfactor beforehand(although I hate how they rely on that show still, and im talking about other former contestants as well) anyway good luck leona! is the album being re-released?
September 16, 200816 yr Why do people always talk like her "fanbase" will guarantee her anything??? She had like 3 or 4 singles releases, and just one album... Is it possible to talk about a "loyal" fanbase when all she´s had so far is just 1 studio album? How many artists we know had 1 massive debut album and then gradually became less and less popular? SPECIALLY when it comes to reality TV acts? Didn´t Hear´Say had massive debut album and single, but where are they now? I´m not sayng the same thing will happen to Leona, but I think at this moment in her career it´s just too soon to talk as if she was already a stablished pop icon. Even Kelly Clarkson, who was the american version of Leona, was able to follow a massive 12 million smash album with a disastrous flop... So nothing is guaranteed.
