I went in with an open mind but tbf it's pretty $h!t. Some nice enough moments but stacks of filler. She'll manage another half hit then fade. It's a shame because she's quite lovely, better than this mediocrity anyway.

I predict top 15 then a big fall for the album next week.

Hand It Over

Cinderella Shoe is the worst track on the album tbh, really bad

not really impressed at the moment it all sounds a bit kiddie to me but i'll give it a chance to grow

I've played it a few times now. Rank and comments:

10.0 The Boy Does Nothing - Wonderful. Rare Xenomania godliness.

10.0 Breathe Slow - Extremely modern and catchy. Will have mass appeal as 2nd single.

09.5 Hand it Over - Totally reminds me of 'Something About You'. Should absolutely be 3rd single.

09.5 Don't Ever Let Me Go - A rare case of repetition really working. Very believable, the tone of her voice on this is gorgeous.

09.0 Do You Know..? - Epic ballad, the final minute or so especially.

09.0 I'm Thru - Miranda Cooper cover apparently? Very relaxing. She does these chilled midtempos very well.

08.5 Can I Begin - Feel-good vibe going on here. Wonderful intro.

08.5 Italians Do it Better - Really reminds me of 'Voodoo' which is my favourite Alesha song. Very old-school instrumental after the chorus. Will grow on me massively I think.

08.0 Chasing Ghosts - A great song with loads of meaning. The fact it's this low in my rate shows the quality of the album.

07.5 Let's Get Excited - A good song. It's monotone musical aspect is both it's high and low point... could grate, great for now.

07.5 Ooh Baby I Like It Like That - See above.

05.5 Cindarella Shoe - SO bad that it's actually good. Wanted to hate it, can't! It still is annoying though. Contradiction of a song.

05.5 Play Me - See above.

The Alesha Show > 8.2/10

Album reviews coming in now:

When her single, Knock Down failed to crack the top forty and her debut album, Fired Up was pulled off the release schedules, it looked like it was curtains for former Mis-Teeq star, Alesha Dixon's solo singing career.

That was until she appeared on BBC1 reality dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing last year. Not only did she wow both the judges and the public with her sensational moves on the floor, she also charmed the nation with her bubbly personality, eventually going on to win the competition.

While most celebrities would milk such huge exposure, Alesha did the smart thing and laid low, all the while beavering away on her second solo effort, The Alesha Show, with new label, Asylum Records.

Boasting a more mature, mainstream sound than we've heard from her previously, highlights include her Mambo-flavoured hit single, The Boy Does Nothing, Xenomania production, Don't Ever Let Me Go which, with its jangly guitars, recalls Girls Aloud's hit Can't Speak French and party track, Let's Get Excited which sees her MC-ing Mis-Teeq style.

Mid-tempo electro track, Breathe Slow is poised to be the next single - all light synths and echoey vocals, while Chasing Ghosts sees her channeling Duffy. Another stand-out song is Do You Know The Way It Feels, penned by queen of the ballads, Diane Warren, it's an epic track which sounds like it should be playing over the end credits of chick flick. And what a voice - where's she been hiding that all these years?

After all the hard knocks, it's great to see Alesha back on her feet and, with an album like this to her name, the world is her oyster.

Song you must download:

Breathe Slow

Positive! :) Times' review is more mixed:

From UK garage rude-girl to Strictly Come Dancing star, the former Mis-Teeq member Dixon is a dab hand at reinvention, as her debut solo album proves. A restless scamper through feisty R'n'B, 1960s soul, big-band swing and misty-eyed balladry, The Alesha Show has as many collaborators as it does styles. The first half, with the groovy Let's Get Excited and the tongue-in-cheek, mambo-style The Boy Does Nothing, is great fun. But the “killer” love song turns out to be a damp squib, while the Euro-funk filler Ooh Baby I Like it Like That is just as inane as its name.

^_^

Oooh, Breathe Slow sounds really nice. Rather different from Boy Does Nothing, cant wait to see the video.
The boy does nothing is such an awful song, when she sings the line 'he does nothing, the boy does nothing' it sounds like a cat screaming while be strangled by a bear, the most cringeworthy momment in pop.
I really must say I'm massively impressed by the album - It's all pretty different from TBDN but sounds surprisingly professional

I expected a really amateur quickly thrown together album full of filler singles which failed to make it onto her first album tbh

Allas I was very very wrong

Good to see it still holding up. Album realesead tomorrow, hopefully it can manage to reach the top 10, but id be happy with top 15.

TBDN's 3-week total is now 93,426. Looks like it'll finish on 150k+. :D

I stayed up until gone midnight (despite having work at 5am) to download 'Don't Wanna Mess Around', the bonus album track on iTunes. It's freaking amazing! There's just something about it that I love. The lyrics are quite sad but it's really catchy and upbeat. A bit like 'Colours of the rainbow'.

And the full version of 'Welcome To The Alesha Show' sounds like a bit of a 'Fired Up' reject track. The best thing about it is what was cut out for the intro.

Oh My! I was watching that Divas show early and an advert for this album came on, they played a clip of 'Breathe Slow' and Oh My  Should be a BRILLIANT choice of single
