Top 40 Hits of Mid September 1996 1 Peter Andre - Flava :puke2: 2 Fugees - Ready Or Not :puke2: Agreed, I hated Fugees, although I liked Lauryn's solo work. 3 The Spice Girls - Wannabe :D 4 The Smurfs - I've Got A Little Puppy  'Excuse me? 5 Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity -_- t*** in a hat 6 Stretch 'N' Vern Presents 'Maddog' - I'm Alive :yahoo: WICKED track this! 7 Los Del Rio - Macarena ;) Yeah this was a laugh, although Whigfield is the better cheesey holiday anthem! 8 OMC - How Bizarre :puke2: I HATED this! 9 Kula Shaker - Hey Dude :puke2: Awful band. 10 Clock - Oh What A Night :puke2: Others I like 12 The Charlatans - One To Another 16 Way Out West featuring Miss Joanna Law - The Gift 19 Underworld - Born Slippy 24 H2O featuring Billie - Nobody's Business 27 Alisha's Attic - I Am, I Feel 34 Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness '96 Remixes 37 Alison Limerick - Make It On My Own
September 17, 200816 yr Thank you :P The track at number 3 was the first song in the charts that I remember hating with a passion at age 7, ditto every other track of their career. Highlights here: 5 Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity (one of their best, even without the video) 6 Stretch 'N' Vern Presents 'Maddog' - I'm Alive (one of those songs you hear for the first time and are blown away, amazing track!!) 7 Los Del Rio - Macarena ( this reminds me of a holiday in Ibiza) 8 OMC - How Bizarre (love this, even if at the time I thought the song was called 'Alphazar' and about a mystical wizard) 13 Rocket From The Crypt - On A Rope (not one of my favourite genres but this is brilliant) 16 Way Out West featuring Miss Joanna Law - The Gift (breakbeat heaven, especially the full length version!) 19 Underworld - Born Slippy (this just goes without saying, one of the best dance tracks of all time) 26 Pet Shop Boys- Se A Vida E (That's The Way Life Is) (one of my favourite post-'Go West' PSB songs) 29 Dodgy - Good Enough (just an all-time Britpop classic along with Staying Out For The Summer) 34 Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness '96 Remixes (see 'Born Slippy' above, highlights are the Dexy & Jones and Original Tweekin' Acid Funk mixes!) Love this year so much, one of the best of the decade.

September 17, 200816 yr Awful lot of poor music in this chart! 9 Kula Shaker - Hey Dude I know they're derided but I still love 'em 12 The Charlatans - One To Another 13 Rocket From The Crypt - On A Rope Great track from the great album "Scream Dracula Scream" 19 Underworld - Born Slippy 21 Sheryl Crow - If It Makes You Happy 27 Alisha's Attic - I Am, I Feel 29 Dodgy - Good Enough 32 REM E-Bow - The Letter 36 Mansun - Three (EP) - Stripper Vicar Mansun have been unjustly forgotten having produced some fantastic albums
September 17, 200816 yr My likes...and I'm being kind here... 13 Rocket From The Crypt - On A Rope Not their best song but an obvious hit I suppose. I remember this being one of the first singles ever to come out as 3 CD singles. 15 Space - Me And You Versus The World Not their best song but not their worst either. 19 Underworld - Born Slippy I loved this first time around (when it was the B-side) but it totally lost its sheen by September having been played to within an inch of its life. 31 Nas - If I Ruled The World For hip hop around this time it was pretty good...but that's only compared to the crimes being released in the name of rap in the mid 90s. 34 Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness '96 Remixes The original mix is the only one you need...thankfully it was included. 36 Mansun - Three (EP) - Stripper Vicar Not their best song, but ok.
September 17, 200816 yr a strange time for me, I was in the middle of a nasty relationship breakup, a long term relationship, and spent most of this period in a drunken haze feeling sorry for myself... These are the songs that I liked back then... 2 Fugees - Ready Or Not 3 The Spice Girls - Wannabe 5 Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity 6 Stretch 'N' Vern Presents 'Maddog' - I'm Alive 12 The Charlatans - One To Another 13 Rocket From The Crypt - On A Rope 15 Space - Me And You Versus The World 16 Way Out West featuring Miss Joanna Law - The Gift 19 Underworld - Born Slippy 21 Sheryl Crow - If It Makes You Happy 23 Bone - Thugs-N-Harmony Tha Crossroads 26 Pet Shop Boys- Se A Vida E (That's The Way Life Is) 27 Alisha's Attic - I Am, I Feel 29 Dodgy - Good Enough 34 Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness '96 Remixes 35 Fugees - Killing Me Softly 36 Mansun - Three (EP) - Stripper Vicar Plenty of songs in the chart I liked but I wouldn't want to go back to 1996 though!

September 17, 200816 yr Ice MC stand out for me. Were Ice MC and Maxx (who did 'Get a Way') the same act? The sounded almost identical.
September 17, 200816 yr Were Ice MC and Maxx (who did 'Get a Way') the same act? The sounded almost identical.the Wiki article for Ice MC (Ian Campbell) makes no mention of Maxx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Campbell_(artist) Ian Campbell is from Nottingham, Maxx are German / Swedish http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAXX but yes, I agree that they similar.
