I never said I knew what she went through. Sorry I didn't make that clear enough for you.

Obviously the performance wasn't going to please everyone. It's clear Britney can't live up to everyone's standards. I'm not here to convince anyone her performance was spectacular and better than what everyone is thinking right now. I'm sure people would still be complaining if she attempted to sing live.

People may have complained if she sung badly live but I would have respected her more

I was actually pretty disappointed. I knew she was going to mime so that's no issue for me, but I wanted something amazing and I got her dancing half-arsed - my flatmates remarked "she's not even dancing properly" - and miming badly. She also made no effort with reference to The X Factor itself... she blatantly had no idea who the contestants were and who had done what to her songs. She even answered the wrong question :manson:

That said, she did work the crowd who seemed to love it and the bit where she was dancing behind the judges was really good... she looked really into it. Overall, good performance considering this is like her 3rd? She also looked so happy at the beginning which made me smile!

Nothing to do with being a Kyle fan. Its about being a music fan. Plus Kylie is hardly the best singer in the world but at least she does peform live

kylie fans were lucky as when she was on she did a duet and a performance of her own which were live and im a huge kylie fan and its her live vocal i love that why im gutted there is no live cd from her recent tour

im music fan and still love B...no matter if its live or not :)

I'm sure some people on here was watching a different show, its all about the miming, awful performance  , my gran could have sang better ^_^

It was terrible!

Strangely, despite my dismay at the performance... I think 'Womanizer' is beginning to grow on me again. :o

Also - please do leave Kylie out of this, this is a discussion about Britney and there's no need to pick up on it just because we have her in our sigs and avatars...

At least the people who DON'T have the CD version yet may want to buy it now.

They should. Its a fantastic song

OH PLEASE!

What fools.

As if Britney was on the "singing show" to show them all how to sing live and how it's done properly.

Despite what Simon Cowell says, The X Factor is not a singing competition. If it was Ruth sure as hell wouldn't have gone home.

It's an entertainment competition and Britney was on the show blatantly because she's an entertainer and a huge name.

I adore Britney. She is my favourite female artist. But nobody expected her to go on there and sing completely live.

She wasn't miming completely, though. Her mic was on throughout the performance, you can hear the doubling of the vocals various times throughout.

And Dermot held the mic to her at the end as a precaution. She moved her head away from his mic and you could still hear her clearly.

But at the end of the day, if people want to hate, they will no matter what anyone says.

I loved it. It's nice to see her back performing.

I want to f*** her.

On a more serious note. Britney has hardly ever performed live so I don't see why anyone was expecting any different. Vocals and shiz has NEVER been what Britney is about. Unlike Mariah who is supposedly the 'voice' yet mimed near completely. I know its a bit BOO HOO Britney, but for her to come back and just perform after her mental episodes is commendable in itself.

Another plus to the performance, at least they changed up the track and added different bits to make it more entertaining. People could have had a lot more to complain about if she was miming to the exact CD version!

Marish was totally live thast why she wasnt 100% and only went for high notes towards the end

You just completely disregarded what I said.

Which completely proves my point about hating for the sake of it.

It still amazes me why people will go so far out of their way to do this.

And don't say 100% like it was fact, because you will never know for sure.

I can definitely hear double vocals at some points in the song, though like someone said, that may have been pre-recorded.

And are you aware that mic's can be switched on and off?

When she finished her performance, they probably switched it off. But then switched it back on to talk.

As I said, she moves her head and you can still hear her.

And Same Difference completely mimed their set last week and yet their microphones worked, though the sounds was distorted because they had cheap mics on.

To say that MTV VMA's were her last live performances on ANY stage at all, and getting all the REALLY bad press/criticism and everything, to go from that to this is just incredible! I mean if you were giving a performance as bad as what happened at the MTV VMA's and then you saw all that criticism and everything it would totally knock you back for 6, and you would feel nervous and embarrassed to perform again. but these past few performances are just about her gaining self confidence and getting back in the right direction. And she's going the right way!
Also, there was no giant ball thing or anything this time which I assume was because of the size of the stage. So was this partially new choreography she had to get to grips with here (in one day)? Might explain a few things if so.
