Posted September 22, 200816 yr Hello people :smoke: It's time to announce the plans for 'Best of the BuzzJack Song Contest I', the round-up contest featuring all of the greatest tracks from the first 10 BuzzJack Song Contests! :yahoo: The actual contest itself will take place in November (after BJSC XI) instead of BJSC XII, which will now take place in December, but nominations will begin now! :cheer: The contest will work as follows. All ten winners will prequalify to the final of the first BBJSC, and quite a few of them will seem cheap, so just remember that Love Song and I Kissed A Girl won this contest wayyyyy before the rest of those BuzzJack plebeians were orgasming over them :heehee: In any case, every country that has participated in any of the first ten contests will be able to nominate their five favourite non-winning tracks from each of the first ten contests, but may not nominate any of their own country's entries. Also, appreciating here that newcomers may not wish to trawl through their favourites from all of the old contests, you can nominate in as many or as few contests as you wish, but if you're participating you must send nominations for every contest that you've entered (So, for example, if your country participated in BJSC II but didn't participate again until BJSC VII, then participated once again in BJSC IX, you must send nominations for all of these contests (which should make 15 in total), but you can nominate your favourites from every contest if you so wish! :cheer:). You must rank each contest's nominations as your favourites from one to five, but each nomination will only receive one point (the ranking is required in the unlikely event of needing tie-breakers :P); and four songs will qualify from each contest into two semi-finals of twenty songs each! :cheer: You have until two weeks after the conclusion of BJSC XI (until 6pm on Sunday 9th November) to nominate your favourites, and all nominations must be sent by PM to me. There will be no limits as to how many entries a country may have in the contest, as it is appreciated that some countries have had quite a few spectacular entries while a few have yet to come up with one that even warrants a place in the final :heehee: A list of all the songs that have taken part in the first ten contests is available HERE, and if anybody would like to add links to all ten contest recap videos that would be much appreciated. Cascadia's entry into BJSC V: BWO - Temple of Love; is ineligible for nomination due to being an unnoticed ineligible entry at the time. Apologies. Other than this, you can nominate any track that has participated in a BuzzJack Song Contest FINAL (apart from winners, which prequalify). Failed semi-finalists are unfortunately ineligible for nomination. In case anybody hasn't understood the above, here's a set of sample nominations (these aren't real nominations BTW :P): KOPECKA'S SAMPLE BBJSC I NOMINATIONS BJSC I 1 [FAVOURITE] - Phlumptopia - Supersister - Coffee 2 - FSR Rontvia - Delta Goodrem - Believe Again 3 - Bhangra - Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow 4 - Camdonia - Nine Inch Nails - Hurt 5 - Faztickle - Nelly Furtado - Maneater BJSC II 1 [FAVOURITE] - Kylienips - The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony 2 - Rivandia - Dragonette - I Get Around 3 - Priceville - Geri Halliwell - Desire 4 - Poisonvine Bay - Amy Studt - Ladder In My Tights 5 - Astoria - Kelly Clarkson - How I Feel I hope I don't have to put up another 8 sample nominations for you to get the idea :P Start the nominations! If there are any questions (and I appreciate there might be as I'm not exactly the most concise speaker :heehee:) just post them up in the thread ^_^ All nominations must be sent by PM to me :cheer:
September 22, 200816 yr Other than this, you can nominate any track that has participated in a BuzzJack Song Contest FINAL (apart from winners, which prequalify). Failed semi-finalists are unfortunately ineligible for nomination. Darn. There goes my campaign to get "Non Mollare Mai" into the competition :P
September 22, 200816 yr Rontvia would love to host it :cheer: sounds brilliant! oh and Love Song for last place in one of the semis
September 22, 200816 yr Author Darn. There goes my campaign to get "Non Mollare Mai" into the competition :P Well, I did think it would be a tad unrepresentative to allow songs that weren't even judged popular enough to make it into a final to compete - it would just complicate things tbh, taking away votes from other songs and increasing the chance of tie-breaks being required :(

September 22, 200816 yr Author Rontvia would love to host it :cheer: sounds brilliant! oh and Love Song for last place in one of the semis  Excellent! :cheer: And Love Song prequalifies to the final if you read :P And I know Peter, I'm just explaining myself before brunoboi demands the entry of Sophie Ellis-Bextor :kink:
September 22, 200816 yr I just hope people remember to throw the idea of being "cheap" out of the window for this Contest. Songs like "I Kissed A Girl" and "Love Song" are going to seem incredibly cheap now, because they've both become massive hits, but in my book that would make them among the most worthy winners, and I hope people take that into account.

I will be voting differently, I will be voting based entirely on song quality and nothing else I know a lot of people do this for the indvidual contests, but then I'd end up giving One More Time and Maneater 12 points and FSR Rontvia really don't want to be doing that :kink:
September 22, 200816 yr Author oh, it's only the qualifiers that go into semi-finals, I understand now, Love Song for last place in the final then :kink: wouldn't it be odd, yet entirely possible, if a song that didn't win an individual contest won this[/mineallmine] :o I'd say it's very likely that a song that didn't win originally wins the whole thing :o Well, that and WYRMT :kink: And yes, throw the idea of cheap out for this contest...except for entries that were hideously cheap in the first place :P [/maneater]
September 22, 200816 yr here's the odds from FSR Rontvia Kingdom Of Shadow: Margaret Berger - Will You Remember Me Tomorrow 3/1 anything else: 5/1 :kink:
September 22, 200816 yr I am looking forward to this, even though I think Beverley will finish quite low in this. I will try to nominate for every contest even though I've only been in 5 of them myself. It will be interesting to see how my opinions have changed since the actual contests were held, some songs have got better while others have got worse for me. Here are the recaps: BJSC I: BJSC II: BJSC III: BJSC IV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCLsqHN56O0 BJSC V: BJSC VI: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BMu9bG9vIFM BJSC VII: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9iBZockYp8 BJSC VIII: BJSC IX: BJSC X: Edited October 28, 200816 yr by Aaron™
September 22, 200816 yr Why thank you Aaron  It's no problem, I needed the links handy as much as everyone else. :heehee: I'm quite bored at the moment so I may rip the audios from the BJSC IV videos and make a recap for that quickly. It would be just as basic as my BJSC VII recap, but lazier as the background colours wouldn't even respond to the countries flags this time. :drama: Plus I probably wont listen to all 20 songs before making the recap so I might not pick the absolute best moments of the songs but when I made one of the semi recap videos in the contest I hosted I don't think I listened to all of the songs first and it wasn't that bad. [/badhost] I'd offer to merge and complete the BJSC VI recap but that's already got 20/29 songs in a non-basic recap video so it might be best if someone could just merge the two videos and add the other nine on the end. I noticed 'Opium' is one of the songs missing from those recaps - that'll be why it 'stumbled' at 9th. :heehee:
September 22, 200816 yr personally i think it'll be between Margaret Berger Beverly Knight Lilly Allen and Whomever wins tonight
September 22, 200816 yr but which Lily Allen? the winner or I Don't Know? Quite possibly Ashton's best entry
September 22, 200816 yr but which Lily Allen? the winner or I Don't Know? Quite possibly Ashton's best entry I think both of them could do well, I wouldn't be surprised to see I Don't Know finish higher than Black Butta this time.
