November 15, 200816 yr I have to agree with Aaron, the current format is better. Sure it annoys me that Rontvia and Kopecka and the like have so many entries in the competition but it would be unfair to make them pick one entry only. had we gone down the other route, I would have picked Mine All Mine to represent FSR Rontvia without a doubt
November 17, 200816 yr Coming from the point of view of somebody with no entries making the Best Of competition, I agree that the current format is better than each country picking their own entry. It's a better reflection. However, there's the thought that obviously this contest is a "Best of" contest because there have only been 10 contests, but how will the next one work? Will it be the best of the first 20 contests? Or just from 11-20? I think a good idea from here on in would be to have a Best of contest at the end of each year and name it after the year (Best Of BJSC 2009 etc) instead of numbering each contest, as Best of BJSC 2, 3, etc would give the impression of trying to find the best song ever, once a year, whereas there is no dispute if it were to be named after the year, that it would be to find the best BJSC of the year. It would be neat and tidy, and a nice way to end the year.
November 17, 200816 yr well technically the contest is named: "The Best Of The Buzzjack Song Contest I [i-X]" i think doing it in tens will work fine, then have an ultimate best of somewhere in the future

Unfortunately, it isn't possible due to the way it's been done! :( We would have to miss at least two months out of the year - for example, we're already on BJSC XI, so it wouldn't be really feasible to call next year's one 2009 seeing as it would have one from the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2008. Doing yearly versions would, for one, eliminate BJSC XI and XII from contention (as they would have come under 2008 but not have taken part in this one), and also require the selection from 11/12 contests, which would be even more of a nomination/qualification nightmare than the 50/30 system we have at the moment, which isn't at all perfect seeing as we only have 4 possible representatives from each contest, but at the same time are under massive pressure to ensure that the whole thing doesn't last more than 2 weeks! It doesn't particularly matter either way, it's fine the way it is atm IMO ^_^
November 17, 200816 yr I agree with Phil that the next best of BJSC should be BJSC11-20 and then a best of best of in the future LOL.
November 17, 200816 yr I'm really pleased seeing that the contest has grown that much since the beginning. I wonder what we will make up in the future
November 17, 200816 yr Author I agree with Phil that the next best of BJSC should be BJSC11-20 and then a best of best of in the future LOL. Well, by my calculations we won't need a Best of Best of the BJSC for another 8 years!
November 17, 200816 yr Well, by my calculations we won't need a Best of Best of the BJSC for another 8 years! Not nescessarily...surely it would be appropriate to maybe have one after 40-50 contests? An "ultimate" contest between all the winners!
November 17, 200816 yr I wonder if FSR Rontvia, Ashton, Kopecka and Mdice will still be going in BJSCXXXXX
November 17, 200816 yr I wonder if FSR Rontvia, Ashton, Kopecka and Mdice will still be going in BJSCXXXXX  You can count Ashton in. I wonder how many times i'll have used the babes by then
November 18, 200816 yr Author We may have to put in a rule by XX limiting how many times you can use a certain artist! And Kopecka will go on forever :smoke:
November 18, 200816 yr Rontvia will go on as long as Buzzjack exists I would think, but as Cool Clarity once said, all good things come to an end...
November 18, 200816 yr Ashton wishes to throw it's hat into the ring for TBO:II With the same set up as this time. (Kopeck-Ash alliance) IMO a continuous host for TBO would worth considering as it would remove arguments as to who would be the most suited host for TBO:II. (Winner of TBO:I, Most Successful country XI-XX, Most wins XI-XX etc.)

(Winner of TBO:I, Most Successful country XI-XX, Most wins XI-XX etc.) Hmm I don't know... I can't recall any major arguments about who should do it this time. I think it would just be a case of who is willing and available to do it at the time, has devoted time and effort to the forum, and people think would do a good job of it. It's hard to say what any of our personal situations will be in a year's time, so I say let's wait and see. I think the host should be decided at the time. Not that you both haven't done a great job, but variety is the spice of life!
November 18, 200816 yr The host of Best Of should be the country(-ies) that never won in the particular period of contests (I-X in our case) but showed the real success :kink:

I can't speak for Phil, but I'm sure hosting a contest with no entries can't be as exciting as one where you have a chance of winning. I think next time one of the winners from BJSC XI-XX should be asked to be the official host as it's a bit odd to have a host with no entry in the final.

I have to agree that it's kinda odd  But i thought that giving other countries an opportunity to host something during the period of 10 contests could cheer up and make the person feel their importance in the contest.

It's quite nice to actually be the host for once.
