Right, this has interested me after going over the contests for my nominations :o In what order would you place the contests in terms of quality? ^_^

I realise that there's a massive amount of bias towards the later contests there, but I do actually believe that the quality has gone up massively post-Untouched :lol: Looking back at the first and third contests the general quality of the songs is actually awful - and not to mention the fact that the first three contests were littered with some ridiculously cheap entries :( Only a few amazing entries stopped II from being the worst contest IMO :o

I-III were bad because people were just getting used to it and NOW most of the entries are known as 'Cheap' :lol: Whereas it has progressed to people actually looking around to find songs to use that people have never heard of. :w00t:

I think BJSC7 was incredible, the top four all deserved to win (I'm aware one of those entries was my own :kink:)

 

I barely even remember the first three, I don't think I was online for the results live for any of those ones...BJSCIV I loved because I won it, and BJSCVI kicked the contest into a new gear, and had some fantastic entries...I'd rank them like this. BJSCX was great thanks to a brilliant host but the winning song was a bit underwhelming for me and it wasn't quite the same not being a part of the final :heehee: :(

oh dear, the two I hosted are fairly mid-table :lol: not because I thought I was a bad host, but because of the song standard...I remember that there were less than ten songs in BJSC8 that I hadn't heard before, loads of people were sending big name acts

We share the same top 6 but in a differing order :heehee: Hmm, I think BJSC VI was a very important contest for the BJSC as a whole (seeing as all indicators prior to then showed the contest on a downward curve with interest at an all-time low for BJSC IV, and the novelty quickly wearing off :(), but some of the entries were dire...and Kylienips and the USR coming top 5 in that was a travesty tbh :(

I can't really say much for the first 5 since I was barely aware of it before the 6th one, but I'd say BJSC7 has been my favourite followed by 9, 10, 6 and then 8. I wasn't too fussed about the winner (at the time), the standard of songs was generally lower than most other recent contests, I didn't have a song in the final, and while Rich did a great job of hosting the whole event was marred a little bit by bickering.

Out of 8,9 and 10. I'd say 8 was the best, it was my first contest, i entered probably one of my favourite songs of all time and so far it is my best result. BJSC9 was compared to it IMO, i could barely think of 10 songs i really liked that much to give points too, and even I was bored of my entery tbh.

 

BJSC10 was a big improvement, Jamelia made the final and didnt finish last which was an acomplishment in my eyes, and there were some great entries aswell.

I don't think most people were happy with the eventual result of BJSC8, it was drawn completely at random but the way the results came out had Sangria at the top for 99% of the voting and then Lily overtaking at the last minute pushing Sangria down to 4th, which looked hugely unfair on my part, but like I say, was entirely coincidental :(

 

I was quite disappointed Thermostatic's Driving was my worst received entry to date at that point too...:cry:

I was a bit gutted at the winner back then but I love the song now, it has grown on me! I hope Tata Young will get into the Best of BJSC though.

 

And there was dispute and confusion over artist reservations and then the whole issues with Addy and Botanikka's non-qualification and late votes. It's a shame the $h!t had to hit the fan during the results show.

Well you did a very good job in spite of all the controversy. Other hosts may not have coped so well!

I'm glad you thought so, it was a real issue for me at the time, I wasn't quite sure what to do, but everyone seemed to agree with me not to accept the votes...they could have been completely biased, plus they came in a good 20 hours past the deadline...deadlines are there for a reason :lol:

 

being a host is a great buzz, but it is also very challenging at times...

 

just to add though, Addy did PM me and apologise afterwards, so I have no hard feelings towards him, all is forgiven :D

I really enjoyed BJSC8 when September gave me my first top 10 :lol:

No no, only joking, except about seven, which was my favorite contest. It was so intense. And then BJSC10 was really the first BJSC that I immersed myself in, so I'd rank that second. ;o I really wish I was around for BJSC8. :(

 

Hopefully 11 can be up to everyone's standards. :D
