'Lowlife' is my fave - well, not including 'Substance' which is as good a singles album as you'll ever pick up.

Also really like 'Power, Corruption and Lies' and 'Brotherhood'. I need to listen to 'Movement' more often - you'd think I would with me being a big Joy Division fan and everything.

'Technique' is ok, I just don't like it as much as most people do. 'Republic' doesn't really work as an album for me. 'Get Ready' is their worst by miles and 'Waiting for the Siren's Call' was decent but ultimately not very memorable.

I only own compiliations (Substance & (the best of)) by them.

Same here, both good albums, but i think Substance is the best, but the other one has

tracks which don't appear on Substance so i recommend both of those to anyone

unfamiliar with their work.

New Order are OK but I feel they are a bit overrated. Blue Monday was a ground breaking single and True Faith was a joy but I feel like they've dined out on those two singles and their Joy Division heritage for far too long.

Nah, I can't buy that. Those are the songs the media play (other than 'World in Motion' whenever a major championship comes round) but the band have so much more to offer. Although not played so often, the likes of 'Subculture', 'Bizarre Love Triangle', 'Regret', 'Your Silent Face' and 'Temptation' cannot be overlooked.

They were much more of a singles band than an album act for me and Substance is probably one of the greatest 80s artefacts of all.

Actually i think 'Regret' IS one of those that get played a lot, heard it on Virgin/Absolute whenever i

have listened.

I quite like New Order, got their singles colection

Technique is a totally brilliant album..... Lowlife is great (Subculture's my fave NO single)..... but after Republic (ok in parts... Ruined In A Day, Spooky and Regret were excellent singles)...they should've called it a day... Sirens Call and Get Ready were truly abysmal.

New Order albums were always worth getting for the gorgeous packaging alone, I reckon..... every single one of their album covers has been a masterpiece.

I own their best of, but I'm no fan as such. "Bizarre Love Triangle", "True Faith" and "Crystals" are my favorites.

yeah Peter Saville is a great designer..(have you got the Factory design book btw?)... tho i guess it could be said that he could have easily used the sleeve for Movement for OMD by just turning the artwrk around a bit

(btw New Order's Movement is a recommended re-issue release in this month's artrocker alongside OMD's greatest hits - the mag is the one with those dancing days looking extra swedish this month  )
