38 confirmed entries!

Remember, this closes Friday at 5 AM. Which is pretty much just very late Thursday night for you all. You're not gonna get a lot of leeway time with this either, immediately once it's Midnight I'm gonna sort out the semi finals and send the info to James for the recap so when I get back from school on Friday I can get the semi-final open, so if you don't get it in by then, sorry!

SO DO IT 2 IT.

So excited about this. Some great entries.

Excellent entry Aaron !

Thanks. :D I just hope it's not seen as cheap compared to all these fairly unknown artists/songs. :o

I wouldn't particularly call it cheap :o Robyn's not that big on this forum :(
So apart from JRK-Off and Hitanya, who are probably confirming soon, who is missing?
Argh I may as well bite the bullet, there's not long left and it was either this or Lily Allen. If I flop...well I'm due one to take my record back to 50:50.

Country: Quotosibb

Artist Name: Robyn

Song Name: Dream On

Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIqrZka7Src

Technically you could say it's Christian Falk feat. Robyn, but I don't like calling it that in the same way I wouldn't call 'Valerie' Mark Ronson's or 'With Every Heartbeat' Kleerup's. The person singing should get the credit imo. -_-

you won't flop, that will most certainly come top ten, I prefer the new UK radio edit that leaked yesterday though, beautiful remix

I have to say though, I always think of Valerie as a Mark Ronson track with featured vocals by Amy, just like I see Set You Free as an N-Trance song, even though Kelly Llorenna sings it...I always have and will think of Dream On as Christian Falk feat Robyn. With Every Heartbeat was credited in the UK as Robyn with Kleerup as opposed to Kleerup with Robyn

I've only just heard the radio edit and I think I might prefer that too but it's a bit late now.

I guess, it's just that I see them as just producers and not the artist to be credited, even if they are the ones getting the profit as the song will be on their albums. (though this version of Dream On is from Robyn's album) I guess I see it being the same as saying 'Bleeding Love' is Ryan Tedder featuring Leona Lewis, 'Mercy' is Steve Brooker featuring Duffy etc.

The whole concept of producers like Mark Ronson having songs which they don't sing on being credited as their songs doesn't seem right to me - it's not like producers didn't exist before. However, I'm not as bothered with dance acts like N-Trance, Freemasons, Wideboys etc. getting all the credit - no idea why.

I see no reasons why you couldn't change the version of a song :P

I don't think producers should receive lead credit apart from dance songs, where the focus is on the production tbh  If people are going to use that argument, then Maneater, Promiscuous, Say It Right et al were all Timbaland feat. Nelly Furtado :manson:

Hmm...are you sure? There's not much difference between changing the version of a song to just changing completely is there tbh. The slave James will still have to download the video again.

Exactly, I guess it depends whose album it's on though. Had "Valerie" or "Oh My God" been on Amy and Lily's respective albums, the credit would only have gone to Mark on the cover sleeves but since they're on Mark's album he gets the credit. 'Promiscuous' could have easily been on Timbaland's album and he would have got most of the credit if it was.

I doubt that James will have downloaded the video by now :heehee: Ben even said that it's fine to change songs if you really want to, so I'm sure just changing the version of a song would be alright - as most people had a problem with the principle of changing the song itself. But either way, it's up to you :P

He meant 5AM our time (Midnight USA time) ;)

Well I really don't mind, I'm not desperate to change as the versions are both quite similar to me. I just think it's slightly better, but the quality of sound on this video isn't as good so I don't know if it's worth it. -_-

Aaron: I love both versions so it doesn't really make much difference to me :P

Trashlexis: excellent choice :D
