Palin makes Obama terrorist claim

BBC NEWS

Sarah Palin accuses Obama of associating with 'a domestic terrorist'

US Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has accused the Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama, of associating with terrorists.

See Sarah Palin Video clip here

She said he had been "palling around" with an ex-member of US-based militant group Weather Underground, which opposed the Vietnam War in the 1960s.

Mr Obama once served on a charity board with a member of the group, but he has denounced its activities.

A Democratic spokesman accused the Republicans of gutter politics.

"What's clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy," Hari Sevugan said.

Commentators say Mrs Palin's attack forms part of a broader Republican strategy to attack Mr Obama's character.

Denunciation

Speaking to supporters in Colorado and later in a Los Angeles suburb, Alaska Governor Palin said the time had come to take the gloves off.

The White House candidates face their second debate on Tuesday

She attacked Senator Obama over his link to Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground, which waged a violent campaign against the Vietnam War.

The group was blamed for a number of bombings in the US in the 1960s.

Mrs Palin described Mr Obama as someone who saw the US "as being so imperfect... he is palling around with terrorists who would target their own country".

Mr Obama served on a charity board several years ago with Mr Ayers, who is now a professor at the University of Illinois.

The White House hopeful, who was a child when Weather Underground was active, has denounced Mr Ayers' radical past.

Focus on healthcare

The Alaska governor also said she wished the McCain campaign had not this week pulled out of the battleground state of Michigan, effectively conceding it to the Democrats.

Mr Obama meanwhile attacked the healthcare plans of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

Speaking to some 18,000 people at a rally in Virginia, Senator Obama described the Arizona senator's policy as "radical" and claimed 20 million people would be left out by it.

A spokesman for Mr McCain, who is in his home state preparing for Tuesday's second presidential debate, said that was "a bald-faced lie".

Healthcare is important to voters and the Obama campaign has unveiled new adverts attacking Mr McCain on the issue in every battleground state.

Mr Obama's Virginia rally came ahead of a Monday deadline for voters to register there and in more than a dozen other states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida.

Voter turnout could be vital in deciding the outcome of the 4 November presidential election.

Meanwhile, viewing figures show a record 69.9 million people tuned in to watch Mrs Palin take part in Thursday's televised vice-presidential debate with Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Any comments regarding Sarah Palin's latest extraordinary outburst?

This woman is a dangerous fukkin' IDIOT, she makes Dubya look like JFK, she has even less political acumen than Boris Johnson... And she is the best reason why John McCain should never EVER be voted in... Think about it, McCain is 72, if he croaks in office, this wacky, right-wing, religious nutjob is gonna have her finger on the nuclear button...... Start making your last will and testament now....

So, now, all you have to do in America, in the Gospel According to Sarah, to be considered a "terrorist" is to have a vague association with someone who opposes US foreign policy or war, even if that war (Vietnam; which was another completely unjustified example of US aggression) happens to have been over for over 30 bloody YEARS, and people have actually moved on with their lives..... Great.... <_<

It's true what Hari said. They do spend more time in speeches/conferences criticising Obama rather than speaking what their party can actually offer to their country. For this I hope the republicans will FAIL miserably.

oh dear, that's almost as bad as saying that an anagram of the 2 VP hopefuls is

Palin Biden

Pi Bin Laden

:(

Democrats quite clearly for the win now, or there is something wrong with America seriously

Can this woman get any more bloody stupid.

I hope America see sense and let Obama be president

What can really be said about this? It's disgusting. But the good news is - it's a last resort, final option, act of desperation.

Obama is ahead in every blue state from 2004 as well as New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Missouri, Iowa, Virginia, Florida, Ohio... and he's within a percentage point of McCain in North Carolina and Indiana. It's almost over for McCain and Palin.

Same shyt, nicer boobs
He's not the only one who sees the US as "imperfect". Anyone who does see the country as anything but at this time is a lying, self-serving c**t - like this hateful woman.

Anyone who thinks their own country is perfect isn't looking hard enough.

FULL truth... I'm incredibly suspicious of anyone calling themselves a "patriot" tbh.... As Oscar Wilde once said "Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel"....

And frankly, I dont even know what the hell McCain's actual policies are, other than "let's get the darkie any way we can" <_< .... And I'm not the only one, even John Biden, the Democratic VP hopeful wasn't all that sure....

Desperate tactics from the gutter. Thankfully, I am 100% sure they will not work and that Obama will continue to cruise to victory.
Everyone where I live seems to prefer Obama to McCain...and I live in f***ing Georgia. So that is saying something.

It is indeed if even the Southern States are beginning to desert the Republicans... I think it's blatantly obvious that the vast majority of Americans hold the current administration (and the Republicans in general) responsible for the "Credit Crunch", and not exactly without reason, Bush/Cheney's handling of the economy has been almost totally inept....

I watched the video in the link, the woman says that she and her supporters see America as a force of good in the world..... what aload of $h!t, that so called force of good has caused the death of millions. How is it that socially backwards, mindless facists even have a shot at power?

I think there's a copyright infringement here.

The only thing I can say is that Palin is pretty, and that is the only reason she is getting such a media splurge right now. Luckily all of the media coverage she is getting is anti-republican. They will bring up how nice her legs are and then be like; too bad she is mentally insufficient :(.

100% in agreement mate...

The Vietnam War cost the lives of over 4 MILLION Vietnamese and Cambodian people for a start, the biggest death tolls coming when Nixon (another fukkin' REPUBLICAN CROOK....) took office and carpet-bombing in places like Cambodia...

If one looks at the current "War On Terror", Al Qaeda may have killed 3000 people on September 11, but the US and UK killed over 30,000 Iraqi civilians in just TWO DAYS of "Schock and Awe" in their own illegal terrorist attack, and all the subsequent deaths in Iraq (around half a million and counting since 2003) could almost certainly be attributed at least in part to the US/UK military presence.... Well, you tell me who the bigger mass killers are here....

And this is before one even gets on to the dodgy deals that our Govts concoct with arms companies and some incredibly unpleasant regime, most of whom are as bad, if not worse than Saddam or the Taliban.... <_< We're just fukkin hypocrites....

As Marilyn Manson once said "The Death of one is a tragedy/The Death of millions is just a statistic...."

Love your juxtaposition of Palin and Hitler....

I live in North Carolina (a usually Republican state) and it is considered a swing state this election, with Obama currently in the lead. I have an Obama/Biden sign at the end of my drive and have my fingers crossed that I will live in a Blue state on November 4th. I have my fingers crossed, but a landslide for Obama may be just around the corner.

That's amazing to hear!

Just one thing to add though, Gore was 11 points ahead of Bush in October 2000. So it seems like a landslide now but we should all keep working for Obama until the very last second.
