Fox News is part of Rupert Murdoch Inc who fully support the Republican party in the USA, so it is hardly balanced news broadcasting.

And as for Craig pathetic bashing of Obama, after the way Gorge W Bush and his cronies have so emphatically screwed up in the Middle East and the War on Terror making the USA more hated than it ever has been in the World; whilst the US economy took a massive surplus from the last Democratic Clinton administration and turned it into a huge debt under Bush's disgraceful administration; whilst further removing Banking Sector regulations in 2001/2 that were first put in place in 1933 after the first Great Economic Depression that have subsequently resulted in banks lending too much money to accumulate what turned into bad debt (just like nearly 80 years ago) so that we are on the brink of a second Great Economic Depression I think you have absolutely no basis to criticise Obama and the Democrats.

Quite frankly a child of 4 or a chimpanzee could have done a better job of running the USA than George W Bush because they sure as hell would have caused less damage which is why George W Bush has very recently finished in the bottom 5 US Presidents of All Time in a poll carried out by top US Historians, political scientists & economists and the worst President since before World War 2 (yes even below President Nixon).

McCain is not Bush, it is not Bush up for election tonight and Bush is an absolute f***wit, if it was Bush standing tonight I would probably vote Obama myself if I was American but it is not, McCain varies from Bush in many many areas

Yes Bush was a f***wit, maybe the most f***witted president ever to be president.

It's a shame that if McCain wins he will beat Bush's record of f***wittedness.

MY GOD! I had no idea you were THAT right wing  Even quite a lot of your beloved Tories would be Democrats in they were American politicians! Do you really think that Obama possibly getting elected is a 'novelty' because of his skin colour?

Yeah of course it'd be a disaster if Obama is elected :( Poor people might get more help  There would be no more billions of dollars and lives wasted on illegal wars  (well hopefully we can find solutions for the current one) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ARRRRRRRRGH! Attitudes might change! People may be treated equally despite their bloody skin colour!

*ahem* Having Joe Biden as his vice president has reassured me that lack of experience won't be too much of an issue. He won't be able to do as much as he wants to do because of the last Republican w*nker buggering up the ecomony but he'll do a hell of a good job to help make America great again! Now if only we could get rid of the right wing government over here with something better :(

Do you really want Pallin having a good chance of gaining power? The world is heading for disaster because of the last Republican government which is going affect how much of your precious money you'll have and in the words of Obama himself WE NEED CHANGE and having someone like him as president of the most powerful country in the world would be a great start!

So yeah what great things would McCain and Pallin do? What's the bad thing about Obama in your opinion? The skin colour debate is long gone apart from the obvious states. -_-

Hilary Clinton I would have been more than happy to see in the White House, she is the one that should have been the Democrat candidate, centre right views, lots of political experience, I am not anti Democrat as such, I even think Bill Clinton is one of the all time best presidents but Obama I 100% believe beat Hilary because of his skin colour and that his skin is a big factor in his win tonight because he has all the blacks out voting for him who have not voted before

There is no evidence McCain will die in office if he won, he is 72 and in very good health, he isn't 90, I don't think Palin would have a good chance of getting into power, the average age of a man is 79.8 these days, Palin getting in is all IF IF IF, if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle, same scenario, I am more than sure McCain would survive a full term, Cheney is the same sort of age and survived 2 terms despite bouts of heart surgery

The world is in a global financial crisis and military tension, a guy who has had 2 years in politics is not the one to sort it, Hilary would have been

no evidence that he wont. :P

But also i think it is reasonbly likley, I DONT want him to die if he wins though, as then Palin will be president, and women should stay in the kitchen.

So you'd like a choice between a right-wing candidate and a very right-wing candidate? What a marvellous democratic example that would set for the rest of the world.

And McCain isn't in particularly good health. Most men of 72 would indeed expect to survive for far more than another eight years but McCain has had various issues with his health over the years.

I hope once the novelty of Americans voting in a black man wears off and he goes back on his election promises and raises taxes for even the middle classes to fund his lavish borrowing and spending plans and when the President of Iran is drinking tea in the Oval office posing for smiling pics with President Obama that the American people who voted Obama think to themselves "god what the f*** have I done :( " and re-elect the GOP in 2012

Ain't gonna happen, unless Obama majorly f***s up in the next 4 years. Like it or not, after the disaster of Bush, Americans are rejecting neo-conservatism, have finally entered the 21st century, and are genuinely moving more towards the left. The only reason this election is even competitive is because McCain is one of the most liberal of the prominent Republicans, and Palin's ultra right-wing views contributed to the ticket's downfall. The Republicans will almost certainly not win in 4 years time: firstly, what's not getting reported widely in the media here is that the Democrats' success in this election will extend beyond the presidential race... they are set to dramatically increase their majorities in both Houses of Congress, which will limit the Republicans' influence in politics for atleast the next 4 yrs to near 0. Secondly, the party will have to live with Bush's legacy for a while. And thirdly, it is unlikely they will be able to put forward an electable candidate in 4 years... McCain will not run again, as 76 would simply be too old, and after that, all they've got are ultra-right fruit-loops like Palin and Huckabee, who wouldn;t win.

Barring a major shock tonight, the Republicans of the last 30 years are dead. Most analysts agree the party needs to completely reinvent itself or it's not going to be a major party for much longer.

Yeah you are probably right in a lot of what you say there, Palin is a bloody disaster :manson: I agree with a number of her views but she makes Dan Quayle seem like Stephen Hawking in terms of intellgence, she has the MILF factor but she is as thick as 2 short planks, the election was probably lost as much with her appointment as running mate as it was Bush's disasterous presidency

I think the future of the GOP is Bobby Jindal, a 37 year old senator of Indian origin and from what I have seen of him a brilliant man, I hope he will be the GOP candidate in 4 years time

The electing of Obama is just because he is black and nothing more so while the Americans are conducting their little social experiment to show the world they have moved on in race relations the rest of the world is going to suffer because we will have a wholly unqualified man as the leader of the free world, if Obama was white he would not have come close to beating Hilary in the democrat polls, the guy has TWO years experience in politics as a JUNIOR senator yet despite so little experience he is about to be put in charge of the biggest economy and military in the world :manson:

Even Joe Biden the vice president once said "the presidency doesn't come with on the job training" when he was campaigining for Hilary and how right he was

Electing a rookie is going to be the biggest political f*** up in history <_<

What economic experience does McCain have? He himself has said he knows nothing about the economy... in September, on the day Lehman Bros went bankrupt, McCain said "the economy is fundamentally strong". The next week, the stock markets crashed and an unprecedented bail-out took place. McCain largely plans to follow the Bush economic policy, which is what got us into this mess. Obama, on the other hand, is widely regarded to have the far sounder economic plan, and additionally, he plans to surround himself with Bill Clinton's former economic team... and we all know how good the economy was under Clinton. As for war, to suggest there is such a thing as experience in this area is totally ridiculous. As President, McCain or Obama will not be personally commanding the troops. The key quality for a President in times of war is JUDGEMENT... and personally, I would rather trust the judgement of a man who says that perhaps purposely trying to annoy a country with potentially dangerous nuclear weapons is not the best idea, as opposed to a man who got up on stage and sang "Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran". And I won't embarrass you by going over Sarah "I've got foreign policy experience because you can see Russia from Alaska" Palin's experience.

The facts are that Obama will have probably won a few votes solely because of his skin colour, and that he will have lost a few votes because of his skin colour. But it is probably not enough to swing the election in either direction, and suggesting that all of Obama's supporters are only supporting him because he is black is completely offensive and patronising.

I would agree that Jindal is probably their best bet at this point, but I have a hard time picturing him winning in 4 years time - he isn't that well known yet. Having said that, Obama was barely on the political radar this time 4 years ago...

I went googling to try and find the name of this senator to say that he could (should?) be the Republican's future in 4 years time (assuming they are defeated over night, and the Democrats are less than spectacular within this term in power).

I have to agree he seems a very good potential future candidate.

I should add that I actually like McCain he has shown that he is most definitely a very decent man of honour, as shown by the way he is clearly uncomfortable at dishing the dirt on Obama during their three head to head debates; but Palin is a nightmarish waste of space.

when the President of Iran is drinking tea in the Oval office posing for smiling pics with President Obama

They worked out on BBC breakfast which plan would help the American taxpayer in the long run and Obama's plan was the better one.

Just because he's anti war doesn't mean he'll be drinking tea with the president of Iran... to say so is such an overreaction and OTT.

Yeah McCain is a man of honour and a great patriot, I hope he is not humilliated tonight and just suffers a modest defeat that allows him to have a dignified exit from main political life, it really is a case now of how much Obama is goingt to win by I really don't see McCain pulling this one off

Agree about Palin she is dire :(

Even though I am largely right wing I still believe Bill Clinton was an outstanding president and that Bush is a complete f*** up as is Palin

That is assuming Obama sticks to those plans, the depth of the recession and the cost of Iraq makes me think that tax will rise for people on a lot lower income than 250k a year, politicians love saying they will cut tax, Bush Snr said "read my lips no new taxes" John Major promised tax cuts but gave tax rises for example

I don't believe that Obama will be able to keep to his plans

I don't believe that Obama will be able to keep to his plans

and you think McCain can/will?

He's more likely to do a U turn on his policies then Obama.

McCain's tax plans are very different, he is not promising lavish tax cuts for the middle classes and the poor like Obama is, McCain is planning to cut taxes for businesses to get the economy moving

McCain's plans will be a lot easier to achieve than Obama's

Yeah but McCain is dishonest, i'm trying to find the article that shows what a complete power grabbing arse he is.

McCain's plans might possibly lead to a temporary fix for the economy, but it would leave the huge flaws in the current economic model which have been shown these last few months. Not to mention the fact that the working-class would basically be hung out to dry during a recession.

ahhhhhhh craig..... the bloke who famously said 'obama will never get elected president'
