Eugh.

 at JLS and Scott. LOL (major lol) at Daniel. That's going to be awful. Typical of Alexandra, nice song choice for Rachel, but to predictable. Should of went to Ruth, but she's got a nice choice as well.

Eoghan, Diana, Alexandra, Ruth and Rachel have good song choices. Alexendra will kill Candyman!
Shame Ruth isn't singing Sway..
L.O.V.E as in Ashlee Simpson?

and LOL at Daniel and Scott, it will be

if Scott gets booted off tonight, how quite fiting...

L.O.V.E as in Ashlee Simpson?

No, as in Nat King Cole. You might have heard it covered by Joss Stone on an advert for Chanel perfume this year or last "L is for the way you look at me, O is for the only one I see" etc.

Most of these songs are very predictable and almost half of them have been performed in the last two years which just annoys me. Maybe they should be more creative with song choices or decide on some new themes if they've used most of them before - how contemporary is 'Big Band' week anyway?

Very contemporary, esp now in 2008.

I wanna hear Rock week, but not Rock Ballad week.

Jamelia performed a cover of the song Danny's singing tonight on GMTV. I don't think his performance will be any good. He's terrible.

It's allll about Alex and Diana for me. I'm interested to see Ruth's, too. She needs to perform the way she did in the bottom two last week every week.

Not sure about Alex's song choice really. Hopefully either Daniel or Scott shall be leaving tonight.

They should be with them song choices.

Alex has a great voice, but she isn't very versatile. Whitney, Mariah, Christina Aguilera,- wouldn't surprise me if she's singing Celine Dion next week.

Alex hasn't been given a chance to show if she's versatile or not on the live shows.

Chez needs to step outside the box and give her something that we wont find predictable, and wont be in Alex's comfort zone.

Is 'Candyman' predictable though? It's not sung by a soul singer originally, and I don't recall a single person predicting she'd be singing it... :heehee:

I said to someone a few days ago that I wouldn't be surprised if one of the ladies sang that song. Plus it's one of the power-house diva's with a great voice. First week it was Whitney, second week it was Mariah, and third week it's Christina.

I think she needs to show off a different side to her, otherwise people will get bored.

How could someone predict a song for Big Band week when it isn't even a Big Band song? :heehee:

But tbh, it's pretty bland, as like I said- Whitney, Mairah (arrangements on an MJ week), and now Christina Aguilera.

I didn't realise 'Candyman' would be classed as Big Band Week though

TBH if Diana does as well as she has done the past 2 live shows, then she has this competition in the bag I think!

Well I guess it works for Bublé. Big Band week just reminds me of Leon Jackson and Ray Quinn especially since 3 of tonight's songs were performed by Ray on the live shows. Then for the girls there's usually the choice of 'Feeling Good', 'Sway', 'Summertime' etc. and oh look, some of them have shown up again. I just want something a bit less repetitive if they have to do Big Band week. It's not just that they've been performed a lot on the X Factor, but there's also the fact that these sorts of songs show up anytime someone tries to do a swing album so they've been covered on CD a lot too so it's harder to put a unique spin on it.

As for Alexandra meh, it worked for Leona. She did two Mariah, two Whitney, a Celine and a Christina song on the live shows and she went on to win it's funny how Simon is criticising Cheryl's choices for her when he followed the same formula for eventual winner Leona.

Saying that, I do think this was a slightly predictable choice for her. I thought one of the girls might have it as it has trumpets (therefore it's a big band song!?!!1) and it's almost modern for the X Factor. I just didn't know which one, though Alexandra is probably the only one suitable for it in retrospect.

I wish they wouldn't give her these big diva songs as I really don't think she's cut out for them she always sounds a bit held back but I think it's more to do with the fact that she simply hasn't got the power of Leona so her versions always sounds like a "poor man's Leona". I really want to like her but they're shaping her up to be Leona Part II and she's just not. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she only lasted for another three weeks or so as it seems to be all about Diana and Laura. I don't think she's appealing to the general public very much.

Well if you didn't realise Candyman was Big Band, it isn't a predictable song choice for Big Band week!

I do wonder if some know the meaning of the word predictable; it means it's easily predicted. And yet nobody (Martin aside) did!
