March 22, 201015 yr I definitely think the alcohol price needs putting up, it's way too cheap atm. A minimum price of £1 a unit or whatever should be introduced imo. They want that to become law up here. The SNP are pushing for it, and the booze industry is fighting back big time.

The casual drinker will be penalised for the sake of a few idiots. A can of the dreadful White Star cider at 4 units would be £4 whereas now it's 59p!!!! That would stop some chavs drinking it but would also hit the pockets of others who may drink it responsibly. Some people who can afford a £3.99 bottle of wine wouldn't be able to afford one at £9. Some people who can afford a £3.99 bottle of wine wouldn't be able to afford one at £9. thats better... ill still go to france though as will hundereds of other wine drinkers. it comes to something when i can daytrip from derby, shop in calais and return home in under 12 hours with a stash of decent wines at between £2-£5 a bottle. it works out at half price.
