Is there any remaining chance of Geraldine overtaking Leon?

I know she's only had one day of sales whereas he has had two...would that have much of an impact?

Of course there is a chance. We don't know the sales of today, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A lot of things can happen in these days

Suppose. I've just never witnessed a song making such a jump from number 6 in the first mids after its been physically released...

Fingers crossed :P

I'd love Simon Cowell to slate Geraldine's song publicly....it would only serve to fuel the sales.

Sales fairly low at the top if Pink is still number one which means Girls Aloud only need around 45k next week to take the top spot - I reckon they will do it!!

We do have a couple of tracks that have gone down mysteriously which are out physically this week, I do reckon the top 5 might look different if any sales data is missing, as KOL at #2 for a third week, looks a bit fishy to me at the moment.

great to see Saturdays and Geraldine doing well, what the hell happened with Sash! though :o I had that down as a top ten certainty at one point...dance is going through a really rough patch at the moment, first Basshunter, then Platnum and now this...

Hard2Beat are not the dominant force that they were at the start of the year...

It's because Indie and Pop is taking over towards the end of this year :o and tomorrow I can see SASH being Top 20 in the mids maybe around 17 :)

Massive four page spread on Geraldine in this week's Heat Magazine! She spills the beans on her Pop Factor rivals and waxes lyrical about her encounters with Sir Paul McCartney and Ricky Wilson (who had trouble remembering the words to Mahna Mahna on the duets week. Ricky has apparently promised to take Geraldine to Crufts next week). Anyway - here is a little snippet which I typed earlier:

2 Up, 2 Down

Being on the Pop Factor enabled me to meet some friends for life. I can honestly say that hasn't been the case with 2 Up, 2 Down (or 2 Up and 2 Faced, as I prefer to call them). They had no shame. Myself and the other finalists were in shock at how low they'd stoop to get votes. Airing their personal tragedies in public in order to win was pitiful. Thank God the British public saw through them in the end. I hope they get clamped!

Men 2 Boyz

Due to budget cutbacks on this year's show, I had to share a family room in a Travelodge with these guys until they were voted out. They might come across like butter wouldn't melt, but don't let that fool you: they're hellcats. Like the night they got rat-arsed on cheap cider and set fire to their bunk beds. How they managed to keep that a secret from the press, I'll never know.

R Wayne

I'm happy to have won the Pop Factor, but if I hadn't then it should have been R Wayne. What a performer. You know people go on about having the "X-factor" - well, this boy's got it in spades. In fact I think he's going to enter The X Factor next year, if it's still on.

The whole article is packed with lovely glossy photos of Geraldine with all her pals from the Pop Factor and of course Sir Paul and Ricky!

Go out and buy it!

Seriously - I think with this and all the campaigning going on at present - I'm not sure if she'll get to number 1 - but she should definitely pass Leon! Figuratively speaking of course!

Depends on how strong Geraldine performs as the week goes on, it is something that might gain momentum. And also Keane and Alicia Keys/Jack White are also out next week.

They haven't been #1 with a solely GA song since 2004 with I'll Stand By You. I don't know if The Promise is that good compared to some of their last singles that didn't go higher than #3.

I think The Promise is fantastic and has a huge chance of going to No.1 next week  Keane and Alicia/Jack won't do much...

Pink/Geraldine/Saturdays are probably their biggest threat to the top but all of these should have died down enough for the girls to take the top spot!

Single down 2, Album down 1

Geraldine wont sell more next week - If she is ever gonna make it then it'll be this week as the promo and hype wont be as big next week. Alicia/Jack White have stalled in the mid 20's and i know the film is released soon but there is no way it is gonna get anywhere near no 1. And Keane's album has been released this week and selling well so i dont see people rushing out for the single tbh.

The Promise is their first single to be A List on radio on and two, they are all over the music channels, add this to Cheryl being all over the papers and their performance on X Factor then i reckon they have number one in the bag!!

Back to this week, i hope Pink can hold on and i agree with Martin that i too find it odd Kings Of Leon are still at two and there could be some sales info missing

Amazing for The Saturdays and glad Keane has rised too. :D Hope The Saturdays can beat Leon before Sunday though.
Fantastic for The Saturdays :o I hope they can pass Leon and even at a push Kings Of Leon too! But still, Top 5 is amazing for them, I was worried that they wouldn't make Top 10! Will be intresting to see how their album does now.

Great for The saturdays! Up deserve top5!

Also Good for Sugas, Girls is holding on strongly!

As for GA... I don't think they can make it to #1. The Promise is not even comparable to some of their older singles that failed to get the top spot (Call The Shot or SKO) and definitely doesn't deserve dto be as successful or even more.

No one has said 'The Promise' is comparable. But with their biggest threats all dying down in sales, they have a pretty decent chance of getting to number 1 next week and TBH I think they can do it. I'm not expecting them to do it, but i'm expecting them to do it even more now that I know there aren't HUGE releases set for next week, and that's when they have the X Factor performance too! ^_^
