  • 2 weeks later...

I heard today the snipets from play.com (as long as they were there) and if the songs are as good as thier beginning, it is a great great album :yahoo: ! I feel that I will like it more as Beautiful World.

I was very pesimistic after hearing Greatest day, but it may be that this song is one of the weakest on my list  . Oh well, i can ghardly wait to have the album now!!!

Buzzing with excitment now :w00t: !

Heard the snippets too and i think there's too much Mark for my liking... I like 'The Circus' the most. Didn't like Jay's solo unfortunately.

Mark has five songs and Gary has four songs. Unfortunately Play.com has taken the pre-listen link off but everyone who's heard it has said the songs are great. I don't mind Gary having a few less songs but as Howard is the best vocalist after Gary, I thought he'd have more than Mark. I'm hoping the songs Mark does sing are not ballads - because for songs like Shine - he has the best voice - but he is plain awful at ballads.

****SPOILER****

I don't complain about Mark having lead in more songs. Not at all :naughty: . Actually I am over happy! :yahoo: (after expecting from him all the time a solo album, hehe ).

But I think that I will like Howard's songs as well.

I am curious if The Circus will develop into a kind of Rule The World after the slow beginning.

Jason song was also not my fav. But seems to have some deep lyrics, so who knows?

The sound seems a little bit of retro, which I adore. Some Beatles, some Simon & Garfunkel . Cool!

So, let's see if the songs are really as good as their beginnings :cheer: . I am thinking now to pre-order on Amazon, something I don't actually do, as I don't like to have CDs around, which I don't like or which are boring.

I don't care who they outsell or who outsell them . I only hope they will have solid sell  . I have a feeling they will go better and better :naughty: (also when they won't write a genius song as Rule The World every month).

I am actually pleased that Gary has less songs than usual. At least it will get people off his back - they're always having a go at him for singing most songs - it makes me laugh but the same people would probably suggest that Ringo Starr should take lead vocals on Beatles songs! Gary has said he's enjoyed taking a back seat this time round and he's just enjoying it (I think he worked too hard the first time - its about time the others did something. )

I'm also glad that most people on the TT sites really like what they've heard (after they'd been a tiny bit disappointed with Greatest Day). When I think of it ... it probably makes sense to leave a stronger track for a second release - as the first single release from Take That is bound to chart at least top 3 anyway.

Hehe, why i put this spoiler anyway???

Na ja, here is from youtube (it is not mine) what was on Playcom. The quality of sound is not good, so it takes a part of excitment. They sounded much better on play.com! But better than nothing :naughty: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=5c0N4A5Nid8 ....

Iris thank you so much! I love it! You're right about the Simon & Garfunkel thing going on - I also sense traces of sixties bands like The Move and the Idle Race - and Mark's voice definitely suits the songs he's singing. There is one other Gary one in there that would be terrific for a single too (perhaps the third release). I'm going to have another listen before it gets removed!

Thanks again! I'm definitely going to pre-order now - something I've never, ever done before. I'm going to treat myself to the de-luxe thingy with the hard-back book.

So, if they won already two pesimistic people like us, is a good sign, right?

You are right that Mark's songs suits his voice and cover the flaws. He cannot sing all the songs in the world, but has the talent to write the songs for his vice and then the songs are exploding and very powerfull!

(do you know, actually from all 5 TT, I like Robbies voice the most and his songs the least. Strange, isn't it?)

LOL, i am very happy that at least the pre-view is not a let-down as I feared :cheer: ...

You're right! I was a bit worried when I first heard Greatest Day (having said that ... I think it is actually quite anthemic now - and my husband really likes it - even though he doesn't like Take That!) But from what I've heard it seems that Greatest day is probably only about the fourth best song on the album and I think I know the purpose for its release.

Its odd what you said about Robbie - I actually like a couple of his songs ... but I detest his voice ... it just sounds too 'phony American' for me. My fave song of his (and if I'm honest ... I'd put it in a top 50 fave songs list) is Rock DJ - because to me its the only song that he's himself on. And the Swing stuff to me is just a cop-out - there are already thousands of Frank Sinatra Karaoke singers out there already ... Robbie really let himself down with this episode in his singing career.

When I hear now Greatest Day between all the songs, it really fits! Could be that this song would appeal more the males ? :naughty:

So, which song beginning do you like the most?

Just going to have a quick listen again and I'll get back! I hope it doesn't get whipped off youtube soon.

Well I've just had a listen again and I've got to ask ... is the order in which they're played on the youtube clip the same order as the track-listing? If so - I'm confused - because the snippets I heard didn't tie in with the titles!

I'll go in the order they were on the youtube clip (top three faves)

1st - 8th song (sung by Mark)

2nd - 10th song (sung by Gary I think)

3rd - Greatest Day

4th - 12th (this sounds like Howard to me - but that would make two songs he's singing - not one as a lot of TT fans are saying - I think they're wrong though).

And I have to say ... I actually like the song Jason is singing (7th on youtube?) I like the words at least - reminds me of Don McLean's Prime Time!

Well, I think they are in order. That was also the order from playcom.

I cannot pick a fav. Each time i go through all I say ah this one is lovely, this one I like the most. LOL...

Perhaps (but tomorrow could be others  ):

1. Hello - Mark (3. song)

2. Hold up a light - Mark (11. Song)

3. The circus - Gary (6. song)

4. Here - Howard (12. Song)

5. Julie - Mark (5. song)

At Jason song: i also think the lyrics are good, but the music is not dragging me.

The other songs of Mark and Howard are also cool.
