Keisha Buchanan of the Sugababes has claimed that her group is more successful than Girls Aloud.

Speaking to the BBC, Buchanan was keen to push home the fact that the Sugababes have racked up more album sales than their girl group rival.

"Let's just set the record straight. We sell a lot more records than Girls Aloud," she said. "I get asked a lot, 'aren't they a bigger band than you?' Well, no. They're not."

She added: "All of their records have gone top 10, which is something we don't have, but we have longevity, we write our own stuff and we've sold more records."

The new Sugababes album Catfights And Spotlights is released on October 20.

i'm not sure whether to believe this or not because i'm sure they get on really well, is it the media creating something when there is nothing? yet again...

Yeah, when the Sugababes are able to achieve three consecutive sell out Arena tours, then they can try to say they're in the same league. Girls Aloud are making a BUCKLET lots more of money than SB will ever do, so they should really shut up if they want to avoid to look ridiculous.

And how can they talk about longevity when they changed two members out of three! Sugababes is a brand now, it's not a long running group. f***ing t****.

Uh oh! This is going to insight a Buzzjack war between the fans

Thing is Sugababes DON'T write all their own stuff but they write quite a lot of it! Both groups come out with good pop music however! Is their new album really called 'Catfights and Spotlights'? Oh dear

I'm not quit sure if she really said that, because Keisha is a friend of GA and why should she say something mean. SB existing 2 years longer than GA and no wonder they've sold more. If she really sad that, then Keisha is a b*tch.

and one more "Girls" of SB is grab and the Promise is miles better than that

''We sell a lot more records than Girls Aloud''

Their right and you have to understand that!

I mean their Change singels sold more together and their Change album sold more in total aswell!

But it could be different this time! Who knows!

You know this is going to create pointless arguing so why do you post it? :/
We sell a lot more records than Girls Aloud

They don't in the recent years. Yeah Change singles sold more together but that's only because of AYN sales, because the two following singles had poor sales, while CTS and CSF were in the charts for ages and ages.

And Change the album didn't sell a hell lot more than Tangled Up, and while Change had a big start, Tangled Up chart run was more revealant and long lasting.

And if you go just a year back, the GA Greatest Hits album and singles sold a lot more than the SB Greatest Hits. So no need to emphasize on sales really. GA is the biggest band in the UK, they get more attention from the media and the public, critics and radios are praising them more every year, they got a lot of high profile adverts deals and they are attracting a hell lot more people to their tours.

I think what she was saying though was GA are obviously bigger than us but we do sell more than them which is true.

She made herself look pretty bitchy and petty really. I love both but its clear to see that even though Suga's outsell them a little (Change only sold 60k more that TU), GA are a much bigger band in terms of success on tours, dvd's, tv and general mass apeal.
I doubt she actually said that its just the media again nobody should believe it.
I doubt she actually said that its just the media again nobody should believe it.

Its quoted.

I have seen keisha say things like this in person about GA though.

The sugababes are still quite successful, they shouldnt feel threatened by GA.

bla bla bla bla bla. Keisha's words were probably twisted though as i doubt she'd say anything as bloody ridicolous as that.

We should be thankful to have 2 great grilbands left in this music world, where everyone snubs pop <_<

And yes they have sold more albums, GA sell more tickets where the money is at, and the sky is blue, and the grass is (usually) green!

i think the controversy sells for both bands which is good! :)

It seems clear from the interview Keisha is tired of being asked this question, and i think she's just saying that neither are bigger but if you wanted to look objectively at it they sell more records so therefore could be considered bigger. It was a dumb journalist question only intended to annoy her and i'm just sorry if it worked but i don't think she meant offence, it was just a rebuttal of the claim made

I never thought the sugababes saw themselves as a girl band as such anyway. I mean their latest album isnt typical girl group stuff is it?

Dunno how they see themselves, but they're all Girls in a group, therefore Girl Group whether they like it or not really!

Keisah cannot say anything about longevity. Its not like theyre the same group that began in 2000 or whenever.

Sugababes take one lasted 2 year

take 2 about 4 years ish

and take three is on its 3rd year

And she can't deny the fact that Girls Aloud are bigger regardless of album sales

Keisha's been making it very hard for me to like sugababes lately. ugh

Dunno how they see themselves, but they're all Girls in a group, therefore Girl Group whether they like it or not really!

They are a girl group yes, thats pretty obvious but i think they see themselves as more of an all female act rather than a stereotypical "girl group" like the spice girls or girls aloud.

I personally have always seen the sugababes as being quite a strong british act but the way they say things like this shows they have issues in where they stand in british music.

Girls aloud never say things like this because they don't need to, they just stand out in the crowd, getting top tens everytime and performing in arenas up and down the country. I don't think they really care what anyone else is up to and even if they did, they would just embrace someone elses success.
