Posted October 17, 200816 yr Right put away those predictions. It`s time for a comprehensive review of Charts via top films, dvds, tv, albums, a flashback, and finally I will return later with the up to the minute Singles chart. Here are the top films this week (compiled by Screen International for UK Box Office): 01 NE THE HOUSE BUNNY 02 NE MIRRORS 03 01 HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE 04 02 TAKEN 05 03 TROPIC THUNDER 06 NE CITY OF EMBER 07 04 MAMMA MIA 08 06 BOY IN STRIPED PYJAMAS 09 08 BRIDESHEAD REVISITED 10 NE NIGHTS IN RODANTHE THE HOUSE BUNNY nets £894,188, MIRRORS nets £834,092, NIGHTS IN RODANTHE nets £193,318...thus telling us less people went to the pictures, last week! ;) HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE goes down quite fast. Thinking of my whole career, the best way to lose friends and alienate people..is to get a job as a manager in retail. Mainly because none of your own ideas are taken seriously by the people that rule the joint in Head Offices..creating animosity amongst your poor innocent regular staff..True? Absolutely! :teresa: The top dvd films (compiled by DTR) 01 NE INCREDIBLE HULK 02 NE ADULTHOOD 03 01 SEX AND THE CITY 04 02 SNOW BUDDIES 05 NE PROM NIGHT 06 05 MADE OF HONOUR 07 03 STARSHIP TROOPERS 4 08 04 REEKER 2 09 07 FOGETTING SARAH MARSHALL 10 08 THE FLOCK The HULK ruling the roost...but you can`t beat the tv series with BILL BIXBY and LOU FERRIGNO. Good because the premise was actually almost possible. I have not been given the top tv related dvds this week...but the top tv related dvd is THE TUDORS SERIES 2, on the first week of release. PAUL YOUNG holded on at 2, awaiting his new single. UB40 had their best album. CULTURE CLUB had 2 top 30 albums at once, as well as the new entry at 4, they were also at 23 with "KISSING TO BE CLEVER". CLIFF had a box set, that also contained a bonus of his Rock n`Roll hits. MICHAEL JACKSON..still his original colour, was on a seesaw ride up and down the chart, as was WHAM, ELTON JOHN, and DAVID BOWIE. The Soundtrack to STAYIN`ALIVE was about as popular as the film...not that good!..We lost KAREN CARPENTER in 1983, then they soon bounced in with a top ten album. While all this was going on, we looked down the chart at 29 and saw CHAS AND DAVE`S JAMBOREE KNEES UP...and realised Christmas was just 10 weeks away! :o The top singles in 1983: 01 01 KARMA CHAMELEON - CULTURE CLUB 02 04 THEY DON`T KNOW - TRACEY ULLMAN 03 06 NEW SONG - HOWERD JONES 04 02 DEAR PRUDENCE - SIOUXIE AND THE BANSHEES 05 16 HEY YOU - THE ROCKSTEADY CREW 06 11 IN YOUR EYES - GEORGE BENSON 07 18 ALL NIGHT LONG - LIONEL RICHIE 08 03 MODERN LOVE - DAVID BOWIE 09 07 BLUE MONDAY - NEW ORDER 10 05 THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG - PUBLIC IMAGE LTD 11 14 SUPERMAN - BLACK LACE 12 25 SAY SAY SAY - MCCARTNEY/JACKSON 13 15 BLUE HAT FOR A BLUE DAY - NICK HEYWARD 14 13 68 GUNS - ALARM 15 37 SAFETY DANCE - MEN WITHOUT HATS 16 08 RED RED WINE - UB40 17 09 TAHITI - DAVID ESSEX 18 41 PLEASE DON`T MAKE ME CRY - UB40 19 26 MIDNIGHT AT THE LOST AND FOUND - MEAT LOAF 20 10 COME BACK AND STAY - PAUL YOUNG 21 20 LOVE IN ITSELF - DEPECHE MODE 22 34 SUPERSTAR - LYDIA MURDOCK 23 12 TONIGHT I CELEBRATE MY LOVE - PEABO BRYSON/ROBERTA FLACK 24 27 LOVE WILL FIND A WAY - DAVID GRANT 25 17 MAMA - GENESIS 26 28 POP GOES MY LOVE - FREEEZ 27 42 KISS THE BRIDE - ELTON JOHN 28 19 BIG APPLE - KAJAGOOGOO 29 36 KISSING WITH CONFIDENCE - WILL POWERS 30 23 DOLCE VITA - RYAN PARIS 31 NE UPTOWN GIRL - BILLY JOEL 32 21 GO DEH YAKA - MONYAKA 33 NE OVER AND OVER - SHALAMAR 34 22 CHANCE - BIG COUNTRY 35 38 LONDON TOWN - BUCKS FIZZ 36 NE DESTINATION ZULULAND - KING KURT 37 35 AUTODRIVE - HERBIE HANCOCK 38 24 BODY WORK - HOT STREAK 39 NE SURPRISE SURPRISE - GARY NUMAN 40 29 WHAT I GOT IS WHAT YOU NEED - UNIQUE CULTURE CLUB having their biggest single, and best seller of the whole year in 1983. TRACEY ULLMAN sang KIRSTY MACCOLL. HOWARD JONES was new, as well as his "NEW SONG". SIOUXIE sang the BEATLES. ROCKSTEADY CREW started well, but follow ups, were in short supply. GEORGE BENSON was back with a song from 1978. BLACK LACE were back 4 years on from the rather annoyance of the 1979 EUROVISION SONG CONTEST, when they sang "MARY ANNE". MICHAEL JACKSON AND PAUL MCCARTNEY were pushed back up the chart, by the hype of tv, and radio and eventually went to number 1, on the then MRIB top 40. PUBLIC IMAGE were just annoying as JOHN LYDON was singing "THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG, THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG, THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG"...John we know!! NEW ORDER spent most of 83, in the top 75. NICK HEYWARD appeared on CRACKERJACK with the even more annoying STU "I COULD CRUSH A GRAPE" FRANCIS. Away from HAIRCUT 100, Nick had a few sizeable hits. MEN WITHOUT HATS were doing good with the biggest top 40 climber, but again could not follow up, this great single. UB40 had 2 hits almost side by side. MEAT LOAF stumbled in to MIDNIGHT AT THE LOST AND FOUND before giving BARRY MANILOW a hit with "READ `EM AND WEEP". THE ALARM should have had a top tenner, but problems arised with sales. DAVID ESSEX stepped off "MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY", for a hit, from which "TAHITI" came. LYDIA MURDOCK tributing MICHAEL JACKSON?? DAVID GRANT`s solo career struggled, like FREEEZ who could not follow up "IOU". KAJAGOOGOO were approaching the end. ELTON took another hit from "TOO LOW FOR ZERO"...the big album. MONYAKA took us for a New York Stylie. and GO DEH YAKA meant GO TO THE TOP...CARLY SIMON sang guess vocals on the WILL POWERS hit "KISSING WITH CONFIDENCE", and asked "Do You Have Spinach In Your Teeth?" BUCKS FIZZ struggled, but "LONDON TOWN", got a lot of spins on Radio 2. We worked our bodies with HOT STREAK, and GARY NUMAN (still eating toast), was not surprising enough!! (The vintage charts were compiled by MRIB for Independant Radio 1983) Hang on for the latest singles info, for this week...coming soon...

Before I finish, today saw the sad parting of LEVI STUBBS of the FOUR TOPS after battling with his health for a few years. I tribute him with his best FOUR TOPS hit, in my view...The number 18 hit when they switched from the Motown label to Probe. Check the song out from 1972 (no video, though) And Levi, you were definately KEEPER OF THE CASTLE. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=e5jG9XUWImA
October 17, 200816 yr It all seems to be that Sugas will be out of Top10 in the Sunday chart... And YES @ Leon Jackson out of Top-3. :heehee: Shame that Sats hardly will overtake him, but who knows?
October 17, 200816 yr Author What's No.40 on the physical chart I`ve put it on..it`s Jordin and No Air, after 14 weeks in the physical chart. Suddenly thought I was working for MW there, and missed it out!
October 17, 200816 yr I`ve put it on..it`s Jordin and No Air, after 14 weeks in the physical chart. Suddenly thought I was working for MW there, and missed it out! Do you work for MW then? If so what's going on with the slow updates over the last few weeks? Great charts, thanks. Especially happy for Sash! :w00t:
October 17, 200816 yr Author Do you work for MW then? If so what's going on with the slow updates over the last few weeks? Great charts, thanks. Especially happy for Sash! :w00t: No I don`t work for them! I was just being sarcastic to them, because they miss out the number 40 on their mids, quite frequently by printing one of the titles twice! Then, no one knows what 40 is!
October 17, 200816 yr No I don`t work for them! I was just being sarcastic to them, because they miss out the number 40 on their mids, quite frequently by printing one of the titles twice! Then, no one knows what 40 is! LOL, sorry, I get you  You have listed two number 36s though - if they sold the same amount of copies there probably shouldn't be a number 40.
October 17, 200816 yr Author LOL, sorry, I get you  You have listed two number 36s though - if they sold the same amount of copies there probably shouldn't be a number 40. Yes, I`ve now noticed. It was a printing error, that`s why Martin thought 40 was missing. Corrected, and that put`s Ms Sparks, and Mr Brown at 41! Cheers Tom!
October 17, 200816 yr Author Could The Saturdays potentially leapfrog Leon for Sunday? Depending on the tumbling downloads...and Leon falls further down the iTunes chart, for example. There isn`t really much between 3 and 5.
October 17, 200816 yr Depending on the tumbling downloads...and Leon falls further down the iTunes chart, for example. There isn`t really much between 3 and 5. Dave is Geraldine looking fairly safe as bridesmaid (or perhaps Matron of Honour is more apt) to Pink on Sunday or could she be relegated to the role of Usher? Norma
October 17, 200816 yr Author Dave is Geraldine looking fairly safe as bridesmaid (or perhaps Matron of Honour is more apt) to Pink on Sunday or could she be relegated to the role of Usher? Norma Geraldine is looking very safe. Infact the whole top 5 is very safe, but the 3-5 is that close. So, 3-5 could whizz round. Ne-Yo, and Snow Patrol can not possibly go into the top 5.
October 17, 200816 yr I hope The Saturdays can leapfrog Leon Jackson to take #4, I think top 3 is out of the question for them though.
October 18, 200816 yr Author I think we can do a quick Saturday update, on the singles front. Maybe needed because iTunes is having technical problems today...surely that will mess up Saturday sales. Not a lot of change at the moment. SASH seem to be pushing to get higher than number 8...not certain they will get it. KANYE is closing in on SUGABABES...he might get the 10, tomorrow. KATY PERRY (I Kissed A Girl) has now switched with JENNIFER HUDSON...Katy 13, Jennifer 14. IGLU AND HARTLEY switch with GYM CLASS HEROES...16 and 17 respectively. MGMT go to 24, ALICIA and JACK go to 25, KEANE goes down to 26, TING TINGS still 27, KATY PERRY (Hot N`Cold) moves up to 28. TATTOO is now 29, N-DUBZ 30, NO AIR is 31. FALL OUT BOY pushes up a couple, in the 50. RAZORLIGHT also squeeze in...Top 40 tomorrow with a push. The top 5, still unchanged.
