A rare week these days, when the top physical, top download, and with downloads only included with a physical release, the top song is the same! Well done Girls Aloud. Why don`t they release downloads, and physicals together every week..then things would be better, and faster. Back in October 1979, Radio Luxembourg had the following: 01 01 VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR - BUGGLES 02 03 DON`T STOP `TIL YOU GET ENOUGH - MICHAEL JACKSON 03 02 MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE - POLICE 04 07 ONE DAY AT A TIME - LENA MARTELL 05 08 EVERY DAY HURTS - SAD CAFE 06 04 DREAMING - BLONDIE 07 17 WHEN YOU`RE IN LOVE WITH A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN - DR HOOK 08 12 CHOSEN FEW - DOOLEYS 09 14 QUEEN OF HEARTS - DAVE EDMUNDS 10 05 SINCE YOU`VE BEEN GONE - RAINBOW 11 06 WHATEVER YOU WANT - STATUS QUO 12 16 OK FRED - ERROLL DUNKLEY 13 23 TUSK - FLEETWOOD MAC 14 NE GIMME GIMME GIMME - ABBA 15 29 BACK OF MY HAND - JAGS 16 13 YOU CAN DO IT - AL HUDSON AND PARTNERS 17 09 THEM HEAVY PEOPLE - KATE BUSH 18 20 DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEOGIA - CHARLIE DANIELS BAND 19 NE MY FORBIDDEN LOVER - CHIC 20 28 GREAT ROCK N` ROLL SWINDLE - SEX PISTOLS 21 NE GONNA GET ALONG WITHOUT YOU NOW - VIOLA WILLS 22 11 CARS - GARY NUMAN 23 NE MAKING PLANS FOR NIGEL - XTC 24 26 STAR - EARTH WIND AND FIRE 25 10 IF I SAID YOU HAD A BEAUTIFUL BODY - BELLAMY BROTHERS 26 22 THE PRINCE - MADNESS 27 NE CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE - QUEEN 28 18 CRUEL TO BE KIND - NICK LOWE 29 NE LUTON AIRPORT - CATS UK 30 NE SHE`S IN LOVE WITH YOU - SUZI QUATRO LENA MARTELL took us all by surprise in 1979, on the Radio One Top 40...when she went to the top nationally. Luxembourg did not have her at the top. DR HOOK hit the top on the next week. Altogether Radio Luxembourg had 28 actually in the top 30. Last week, we had 36 in the top 40 singles, and 25 in the top 30 albums. How will it compare this week?
October 20, 200816 yr Thanks Dave. I was a little nervous about GA not getting number one this week, but it seems they're on track. Impressed by the Kanye climb too, thought it was going to stay middling, really grown on me though, and awesome video.
October 20, 200816 yr Glad to see my AC/DC prediction on Haven is vindicated here! Interesting that two compilations take the top spot though. Surprised to see Geraldine as high as #7 in singles - I'm guessing this will be outside the Top 10 by Sunday, mind.
October 20, 200816 yr AC/DC beating all of the other artist albums is no surprise really...they've been top on pre-orders on Play and Amazon for weeks... what surprises me is Mariah's Ballads album set to go top 10 (if you take out the compilations)...people can pick up her Greatest Hits album for a fiver in some places, it has all of these songs on it and more for half the price

October 20, 200816 yr I thought Kaisers would beat AC/DC but looks about right for the album chart I guess. I'm certain FOB will make the top 40 unless the physical has been canceled...
October 20, 200816 yr Excellent work as usual Dave, i completely agree that downloads and physical releases should be released in the same week, always thought they should do that.
October 20, 200816 yr I'm certain FOB will make the top 40 unless the physical has been canceled... it's out, I saw it in HMV earlier
October 20, 200816 yr What's the story with Billie Jean by Chris Cornell, am I missing something  And finally I never thought Razorlight would have a chance to get top 5 this week, its not even physically released this week, maybe #1 the week after :D
October 21, 200816 yr What's the story with Billie Jean by Chris Cornell, am I missing something  X Factor effect - Austin performed the Chris Cornell version on Saturday
October 21, 200816 yr i can't see ACDC that high tbh. Me neither. Don't think they'll be No.1 in today's mids.
October 21, 200816 yr AC/DC have been number 1 on pre-orders for a very long time- i think they will most certainly be number 1!
October 21, 200816 yr Aah.. but it also has the evergreen favourite "All I Want For Christmas Is You" on it as a bonus track! :D It does? :o That'd be enough to make me buy it then if I didn't already have her greatest hits. That only has some god damn awful Lil Bow Wow version of '...Christmas' on it :puke:
