October 28, 200816 yr Not a review as such, but here are my early ratings of the songs.... The Promise 10 The Loving Kind 8 Rolling Back The Rivers In Time 6 Love Is The Key 6 Turn To Stone 7 Untouchable 9 Fix Me Up 5 Love Is Pain 9 Miss You Bow Wow 7 Revolution In The Head 5 Live In The Country 5 We Wanna Party 7 Overall rating is exactly 7/10, good enough album, and i'll be keeping my 100% record of having GA's albums on CD with this ^_^
October 29, 200816 yr :o Despite having terrible album art, it's a lovely album. Perhaps I'll rate later. Don't get all the disappointment tbh! o.O I've never been CRAZY over them (though always liked very much), but on first listen this is easily their best and most cohesive release yet.
October 30, 200816 yr Yeah I think it has some growing on me to do so far here's how i see it The Promise 9 The Loving Kind 9 Rolling Back The Rivers In Time 9 Love Is The Key 7 Turn To Stone 8 Untouchable 10 Fix Me Up 6 Love Is Pain 10 Miss You Bow Wow 9 Revolution In The Head 7 Live In The Country 4 We Wanna Party 7 I mainly compared it to tangled up because in my opinion it is their best album The thing about Out of Control is that while it clearly isnt as amazing as TU there are moments that certainly surpass it! Untoucheable is AMAZING!
November 1, 200816 yr my ratings and short reviews: The Promise 10 best lead single they've ever had, scrap that, best single they've ever had The Loving Kind 10 Call The Shots' natural successor...amazing Rolling Back The Rivers In Time 8.5 a real grower, really liking this and has good '3rd single potential' Love Is The Key 7 growing on me but not as good as the first three songs Turn To Stone 7 see above Untouchable 8 wow, really long song, it doesn't feel like almost 7 minutes when you listen to it...it's risks like this that make them more interesting than Sugababes, if slightly less radio friendly usually Fix Me Up 7 I hated this first time I listened to it but it's quickly growing on me now! Love Is Pain 5.5 it's ok, quite filler-ish Miss You Bow Wow 10 sounds like a 2008 update of Vanessa Amorosi's Absolutely Everybody right in the first part of the track, but then it storms into a classic Girls Aloud chorus, not sure that it would make a good single though, it's all over the place...still, it didn't hurt Biology did it! Revolution In The Head 8 I like this a lot! It doesn't stand out particularly though Live In The Country 8.5 hats off to them for trying drum 'n' bass again, this owes a lot to Sound Of The Underground actually...very oddball but I like it a lot! We Wanna Party 8.5 it doesn't fit with the rest of the album particularly and would have been better suited to What Will The Neighbours Say? but I can't deny that it's a good track that's been going round my head all week! overall: 9/10 three perfect songs, and a lot of very good songs...only Love Is Pain is particularly unmemorable, whilst Fix Me Up doesn't really gel with the rest of the album, but I do like it more and more now I hear it, and it breaks up the electro-pop sound quite well...for me, their best album since What Will The Neighbours Say, potentially their best album to date
November 1, 200816 yr 10 | Miss You Bow Wow 10 | Untouchable 09 | The Promise 09 | Rolling Back... 08 | The Loving Kind 08 | Turn To Stone * 05 | We Wanna Party 05 | Fix Me Up 05 | Revolution In The Head 04 | Love Is Pain 04 | Love Is The Key 04 | Live In The Country Out Of Control > 6.8/10 It's odd - the first six songs in my rate are some of the best of GA's career - some risks taken, mostly paid off, some beautiful vocals, some big hooks. And then the last six are just awful - either totally generic or filled with poor vocals and lacking any hooks or anything of interest. As if they were made by an entirely different band for a different album! Overall 6.8 seems too low for an album with six immense or near-immense songs on, so I'll say it's actually a 7.5 or so.
November 1, 200816 yr Now we have the CDQ here's my revised scores 01 | The Promise | 10/10 02 | The Loving Kind | 8/10 03 | Rolling Back The Rivers In Time | 7/10 04 | Love Is The Key | 7/10 05 | Turn To Stone | 9/10 06 | Untouchable | 10/10 07 | Fix Me Up | 9/10 08 | Love Is Pain | 6/10 09 | Miss You Bow Wow | 2/10 10 | Revolution In The Head | 7/10 11 | Live In The Country | 6/10 12 | We Wanna Party 6/10 Overall: 7.25/10 Really big improvement, obvious Grower-factor :D
November 1, 200816 yr I love GA have all the albums but really dont like the promise at all! So im slightly worried for the rest of the album :(
November 1, 200816 yr So im slightly worried for the rest of the album The rest of the album is nothing like 'The Promise', dont worry.

November 3, 200816 yr LITC wouldn't be so bad but those farm animal noise thing just take the p***. Everyone seems to be in agreement with Untouchable though
November 3, 200816 yr Not everyone. :P I don't find in "Untouchable" anything interesting. The best songs are "Miss You Bow Wow" and "Turn To Stone", also better than average are "The Promise", "The Loving Kind", "Love Is Pain", "Revolution In The Head", "Live In The Country". 'Fix Me Up' - What Is That??? O_o Awful. Other songs are just average. The whole album is actually good, it includes all things when you want just to relax with the good mood. 8/10 from me.
November 3, 200816 yr 9/10 'The Promise' - Excellent and we all know this by now. A real grower and got all the makings to be a GA classic. 9/10 'The Loving Kind' - LOVE IT!!! Hope the rumours are true and that this is the next single, could be a second number one! 10/10 'Rolling Back The Rivers In Time' - BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM - Love the opening first few lines. Hope it gets released. 2.5/10 'Love Is The Key' - Horrible!! Really dont like it. Seems all over the place. 6.5/10 'Turn To Stone' - This is good and nice enough, doesnt really go anywhere though which is a shame as it does show potential in parts. 8/10 'Untouchable' - I LOVE it - Great song and i can imagine chillin out by a pool on holiday listening to this, a tad too long though... 1/10 'Fix Me Up' - Shocking - Why this is on there i will never know - Doesnt fit in with the rest of the album and feels so out of place. 7/10 'Love Is Pain' - Good and feel this could be a real grower - 4th single material too!! 5/10 'Miss You Bow Wow' - Not instant with me but hopefully will grow. 4/10 'Revolution In The Head' - It could be a grower but right now it just seems average. 7/10 'Live In The Country' - Like this - Not great but quite fun. What's with all the animal noises though???? 4/10 'We Wanna Party' - Not liking this at all at the moment - Why on earth the chose to cover this i really dont have any idea!! Overall 7.5/10 - Thinks its quite good, there are a few classics on there but a few stinkers also - I do like it but not as good as TU or WWNS.
