Lily Allen's pal kidnapped & GQ Awards

 

Lily Allen has thanked police for rescuing her friend who was allegedly abducted at gunpoint and held hostage for a week.

 

The 23-year-old singer said she was "terrified" after her pal was taken by a group of armed men.

 

The friend and another man, both in their 20s, were working at a sports store in west London last month when the men apparently entered the store and bundled the shop workers into a car.

 

The group are alleged to have held the pair hostage at an address in Thamesmead, south east London, and demanded a ransom of £75,000 from their families.

 

Lily's friend and his co-worker were found by police a week later on August 9. They were handcuffed with their heads covered but were unhurt.

 

A number of men have appeared in court in connection with the alleged kidnapping.

 

Allen wrote on her blog: "Thank you to the Met for getting my friend back, we were all terrified and from what I hear you guys did an amazing job."

 

But she was not feeling so magnanimous when she later co-hosted the GQ Men of the Year Awards with Sir Elton John in Covent Garden, London.

 

Wearing a metallic Dolce and Gabbana dress, Allen slurped wine while presenting the ceremony and seemed a little worse for wear as the night went on.

 

When the singer told the audience "now we reach a very special point in the evening", Sir Elton replied sarcastically: "What, you are going to have another drink?"

 

Allen told the star: "f*** off Elton, I'm 40 years younger than you, I have my whole life ahead of me."

 

When the audience fell silent, Elton retorted: "I could still snort you under the table."

 

The Smile singer barked back: "f*** off. I don't know what you are talking about."

 

The pair also had a laugh at Amy Winehouse's expense, telling the audience: "Unfortunately Amy Winehouse could not be here tonight, but we will crack on."
