I'm unreserving Monrose. Going to leave my entry for the last minute, I have such a long list of what I'd like to enter so have to do some nerdy analysis before I start confirming. Ah the indecisiveness! Rumours are that Eledan are going to enter Little Jackie! :o

Basically, official categorisation of countries, and the possible addition of extra variables to give advantages and disadvantages (something I personally disagree with before everyone jumps on me :P) - e.g. The Old Guard would probably get privileges and drawbacks (so we might have to confirm our entries a couple of weeks before everyone else to reduce surprise impact etc. or something like that, but be considered for autoqualification if it was required), as well as The New Guard, and then possibly the creation of a class to accomodate the FNT Nickodonias, Kathaldazias and Allecians among us who struggle to qualify :heehee:

I hate even talking about things like Old Guard etc. I don't see why everybody is so fascinated in classing members above one another.

I couldn't care less about old guard, new guard, whose better than whom type analysis :lol: but it has become apparent that whereas Mdice, FSR Rontvia, Kopecka, Ashton, United States of Russiatron, Bhangra and Kylienips used to rule the contest, it is now more about Eledan, Nonsuch, Quotosibb and Mdice still :lol: and I suppose FSR Rontvia and Kopecka still too to some extent...

 

it does seem that some of the posters behind these countries though are well known around Buzzjack like myself, thisispop, Trashlexis, Aaron, Medicated Soap and Pavel, whereas the more unknown posters who literally only joined to this site to be in the BJSC tend to do generally much worse with their entries...

 

I can't say whether some people vote for a poster over a song, but I certainly don't and I would like to hope that nobody else does either :unsure: it may seem that I give an unusually high number of points to Kopecka quite often, but then in some finals I've given their songs nothing (Janelle and Ashlee Simpson being prime examples)...it's all about the right song for me :D

I don't think we'd ever use a class system.

 

Unless of course the contest got massive like 90entries massive.

I do think it would be interesting to just look at where everyone perceives themselves to be, I know i'm a member of the Old Guard, but it would be interesting to see where some of the newer countries fit in around us old farts.

I don't consider referring to the 'Old Guard' as classing certain countries above another TBH :o I just use it to refer to countries that came in clusters at certain points that have had certain effects upon the contest ^_^ For example, the New Guard were without a doubt among the most influential factors in revitalising this contest! :heehee: And results-wise many of them can be co-categorised - FSR Rontvia, Ashton, Kopecka, Mdice, Bhangra and Simondly have all had fairly similar results, as have Eledan, Quotosibb and Nonsuch. I don't see it as anything particularly offensive or hierarhical, no more than it is to point out that many of the Balkan countries came at around the same time in the ESC! :lol:

It's all about the song, the poster behind the country should never come into consideration imo

Their run so far reminds me of Kopecka's at the beginning :o Looks like five contests of lower top ten beckons for Rich :kink:

Mdice I sometimes feel could take anything into the top ten, but then again that Japanese song flopped so maybe not :o Ashton and Kopecka seem accustomed to positions 7th-10th whilst FSR Rontvia love the top five or 18th/19th :rofl:

yeah, USR have slipped slightly with a couple of DNQ's

 

as have Kylienips tbh.

 

Simondly have only really become dominant in recent contests, after all until recently poor simon had never had a top 10

out of 10 finals(11 entries) 5 of my songs have come 7th-9th.

 

1x7th, 2x8th, 2x9th. :rofl:

I do still think it's mainly to do with entry quality though, the people that have done if for ages no what gets votes, newcomers don't!

 

Newbies still can do well if they send the right entry (BaNG with The Knife, Deandria(?) with Ladytron)
