October 30, 200816 yr Looking forward to 2009 I wonder whether it is worth say once every 3 or 4 Contests running a special theme such as male vocalists; British & Irish acts only; USA/Canadian acts; Rest of the World acts; Songs older than the year 2000; etc to mix the format up a bit? We aren't doing that at all as it would put people off who aren't so keen on these themes, what we are doing however is following the lead of the Nation Song Contest over at ESCToday and doing spin-off contests (akin to the Best of the BJSC) with these themes a couple of times a year, and doing them around the same times as contests rather than taking a break for them as we're doing now ^_^ I think it just needs the right song tbh :o Most male artists don't tend to do the sort of song that would go down massively here, but all we need is the next Grace Kelly or Dance Wiv Me that doesn't get massive in the lead-up to the contest and I think it could easily do well :heehee:
