BBC PRESS RELEASE

BBC Children in Need is delighted to announce that the 2008 Children in Need single will be performed by McFly, who will be donating all profits from the single to the charity's 2008 appeal.

This double-A sided single features the track Do Ya, from their current album Radio:ACTIVE, and a cover version of Rod Stewart and The Faces' Seventies hit Stay With Me.

Both songs will be performed for BBC Children in Need viewers on BBC One on Friday 14 November 2008.

Tom from McFly says: "We're so honoured to be releasing the official single for Children in Need.

"We've performed several times on the live show in the past and it's always been an amazing night with a fantastic atmosphere.

"Hopefully our single can help raise more money than ever for what is such a great cause."

For fans eager to be amongst the first to get their hands on the new single, it will be available to pre-order on the night of the 14 November as a two-track download from 7Digital.

The single will be available to download from Sunday 23 November and commercially available in stores from Monday 24 November.

Every single copy sold will help BBC Children in Need in its aim to raise over £30million to help disadvantaged children across the UK.

McFly will also be switching on the Regent Street Christmas lights from outside Hamleys in Regent Street, London W1 on Thursday 6 November 2008 from 5.45pm onwards. This is a traffic free event.

Its out on download 1cd and 1 dvd

I dunno how I feel about them doing another cover. But charity I suppose.

A surprise of their good ol' friend Rod jumping on stage on the night, perhaps?

I don't hate them that much anymore but still the whole CIN thing is just a joke these days

I haven't taken it seriously since S Club 7 did it. The Spice Girls one was horrendous which is a shame as I love that band. The others have just been plain embarassing. Only one since 'Have You Ever' thats even been half decent is 'I'll Stand By You' but hat was just an exact replica of the original except with Girls Aloud singing it. :/

I will reserve my opinion on totally trashing McFly and their horrible back catalogue and desperate acts of conning people out of money however until I hear the songs B)

"no-sellers" - are you sure your talking about the right band?

I'm very sure, yes darling. :)

Why don't you set up your own band, see how many single's you sell, and then call them no sellers, darling :)

DO YA http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=t7FGosW0HvM

I got given the full Radio:Active album as a gift and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by some of the songs on it...not typical Mcfly at all...I was really hoping they might release one of the maturer songs, for example I adore POV, and Down Goes Another One.

But no they release the one song that is just gonna reinforce the hate towards them and it sounds like they haven't moved on from Five Colours In Her Hair days, I know its for CIN but it really does them no favours -_-

A shame because there are some genuinely quite great songs on Radio Active that might surprise a few people

iknow Pov is my fav song too

DO Ya is one of about 3 songs on the album that sounds like old Mcfly

however i see why they have decided to release do ya

tbh I think POV will be the next single from Radio:ACTIVE its a fans fav and Mcfly adore the song

STAY WITH ME (fast forward to 3:30) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NEVd-hZdyAI

DO YA (taken from Radio:ACTIVE album) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=t7FGosW0HvM

All though Do Ya is the worst song and one of the only real old mcfly sounding songs

i think they picked the right one for CIN

The Videos will be shown this weekend

and Mcfly will perform both tracks LIVE on Children in need

I've just heard "Do Ya" and I just can't believe how rubbish it is :o

Do Ya is 1 of 3 song's on their new album thats not so muture and that sounds like pasy Mcfly songs

all their other songs eg POV,Down goes another one,The last song sound nothing like Mcfly what so ever

Do Ya is a fun song and kinda easy to learn think thats why they decided to release it for CIN

  • 2 weeks later...

OMG OMG !!

McFly won't even be top10 with their CIN single by the end of the week ! :o :o

Is this the end for them ? Looks like their fanbase isn't big enough anymore to even ensure a top10 placing

Taking into consideration the free album and the re-release album both having the track on and the fact they on a huge arena tour at the moment, it means far from.

They're not going anywhere yet. Do Ya is one of the weakest tracks on the enw album, including One For The Radio. There are far better tracks, better than even Lies, that would make top 10 and will hopefully be released next.

I'm surprised Stay With Me and I Kissed A Girl didn't tempt the fans that already have Do Ya...I honestly can't see them ever having another UK No.1...

Were BOTH tracks on the free album ? I thought they re released it with those exclusive songs.

:nocheer: Oh dear McFly, what went wrong? :( I used to be a fan (I really liked their first 2 albums) but then I grew up! :( Kids nowadays aren't interested in you anymore, they're too interested in stuff like N Dubz (Kiddy Chave Music IMO) :heehee:
