I agree. I *hate* the criticism that 'nothing happens'. If it were up to me I wouldn't even have included the attack on the Burrow; I'd rather we'd seen Hokey's memory of Tom's visit to Hepzibah Smith personally.

I quite agree with this - I am still miffed they didn't film the Gaunt scenes :(

I was at first, but it was the very first bit of news we got about this movie 2 years ago - No Gaunts, No Minister for Magic and No Hepzibah so I was well used to the fact they wouldnt be in it.

Having seen it though I didnt feel I missed anything tbh. Dumbledore explained the ring was his mothers and that felt perfectly adedquate. No non-book readers were going to question that at all.

The Burrow attack I still think was a perfect addition to give it a kick in the middle. People STILL complain theres no action. I dont get people who are complaining its a "talky" potter. And this comes from people who read the bloody book! Fools!

I enjoyed the 6th book loads, and really enjoyed the film as well (MUCH better than the last film imo).

It's like 4 years since I read the book, so I can't really remember all the stuff they missed out from the books, but they did a good job I reckon. The visual effects were stunning and it flowed really nicely. I can see why people don't like the film and call it boring, but it sets it up perfectly for the final book..

I actually really enjoyed it! ^_^ Okay so theres not as much action as some of the other films, but personally I preffered that I think. Helena Bonham Carter was especially fantastic in it I thought, much better than the last two which I didn't really think were up to much at all.

Order of the Phoenix remains a classic to these eyes. The cinematography is SO impressive in that film. The opening sequence is just as magical (ha) as in Half Blood Prince; so deliciously dark. Great film (though the lack of Quidditch was felt).

I enjoyed it...for the most part!

As a self-confessed fanatic, I do take the films with a pinch of salt. I know they have to cut out stuff otherwise the film'd be about 4 hours; so I'm fine with that. What I'm not happy with is the fact that they then add in scenes like the one at the burrow which add nothing to the plot. To be honest that scene really annoyed me. DD dies so there is no one left to protect Harry: if he's that easy to track down and attack then Voldemort might as well have just gone to the Burrow and killed him there and then!!

Also the revelation of Snape being the HBP seemed pretty pointless - in the book, Harry worshipped the prince so that when it was revealed to be Snape the reader felt sick that Harry's fictitious hero just murdered his real life hero. In the film it was like "oh it's Snape...that's nice".

Also Dumbledore wasn't buried with his wand which means that there is no need for Voldie to break into his tomb so that's another impressive scene we won't be seeing; and where is the information the trio need to get the horcruxes?? Seriously they know nothing! They have no idea about the cup or the snake and Harry never got round to seeing the tiara as stupid Ginny made him close his eyes!!!

On a more positive note, the acting was really good in this one and the balance of drama with comedy was perfect. All in all I did enjoy the film but felt that they relied too heavily on trying to make it action packed instead of actually trying to give both the characters and the audience the important information that they needed.

Things like your spoilered points are easily sorted though.

1. We didnt see the funeral so the wand may still be buried with him. Rumours are DH movie will open with the funeral I expect a close up shot of the wand then.

2. I expect they will get info someway, easily sorted- perhaps via his portrait. It'll be easy to sort that out.

Perhaps he'll leave Harry a letter of instruction in the will or somthing...
Yeah I guess. Just wish that things that are obviously important to the overall plot would be left alone!!

True lol. I went with a mate who's never read the books, and when Snape revealed he was the HBP he just went, "hmm".

If people are moaning about the lack of action, then just wait for DH, all they do is just fukking camp.

Maybe a memory so Harry can see for himself what he needs to know?

Pete Jackson did a similar "cut stuff out, but put in other bits that make the story more cinematic" thing the LOTR trilogy though... There's simply a different dynamic to cinema.... But, of course, Jackson was clever, he effectively "made" two different versions of the LOTR films through the editing process, adding a lot more to the DVD releases.... I think the same thing should have been done with the past three HP films tbh, have extended DVDs which maybe last 3.5 hours or summat to really go into the sub-plots of the books more.....

As for me movie is great - alot of action amf romance - everything that I wanted to see was in the movie - firm 9/10

I think a good idea of doing it (how I would do it if I was the director), would be that during the opening of the 7th movie, it would be Dumbledoor's funeral, and Harry would be sitting their thinking, and it would be flashbacks of him & dumbledoor looking at more memories (Voldermort asking for a job, Hufflepuff's cup, the Gaunts, etc.), to make it seem like Harry visited them in the last film, but we're seeing them now.

If that makes sense?

Worst HP film in my opinion. The 6th book was my fave (with the 3rd) but they've done such an awful film!

I really don't know what they're going to do to fix this.

Looking forward to the next films.. I hope with so much time they can do it at least decent, I really think Yates it's unable to do a good HP film.
