Michael Jackson has to be THE obvious one. Much of his 80s and early 90s material is ICONIC. Now granted, he hasn't exactly been busy this decade, but what output there has been has just been a big ugly stain on his career.

You Rock My World and One More Chance? Who even remembers them only a couple of years later?

Suggestions for Kylie...apart from the odd moment (Better The Devil You Know, I Believe In You etc.) I would lump her in the NEVER-been-good category.

Mariah...I wouldn't go as far as to say she was "good", but there's been a very noticeable downturn. It's pretty much down to her abandoning her unique point (THE voice) for some $h!tty whispering over a generic dull American beat.

Phil Collins is another. Never everbody's cup of tea, but he had some FANTASTIC pop songs behind him in the 80s. And now's it just the odd outing for a schmaltz-fest for some mushy Disney film. Depressing.

To add to Madonna and Jacko I'd say:

Oasis - First two albums and b-sides album were brilliant but as much as maybe they are better than they were not so long ago now they're still nowhere as good as they were!

Paul Weller - I know some people won't agree but I've found his recent solo stuff very boring!

The Verve/Richard Ashcroft - After his first solo album he lost it and despite The Verve reforming still hasn't rekindled the old magic.

I was thinking about MJ, some of his music in the 90's & 00's was awful, tracks like: In The Closet, Heal The World, Earth Song, You Rock My World, One More Chance etc. but then, he still managed to get tracks out like Scream, Black or White (it's not THAT bad!), They Don't Care About Us.
