I am SO glad she's actually working with Justin Timberlake. A duet between the two of them would be amazing. I'm really excited about her new stuff!

Parts of Spirit have an urban style like Bleeding Love, Take A Bow and I'm You. I'm expecting the song she did with Justin to be a similar vein to them.

She was flopping hard before Emancipation of Mimi which actually rejuvenated her career. It saved Mariah, who's had urban influences since like 1995.

I'm hoping Justin can help Leona crack the urban market. I don't think they'll go that urban though. The execs know where she'll sell, but I'm hoping they release a hot uptempo for single #1 off her sophomore album. Another ballad could kill her in the U.S.

Anyway, Leona's one of the only artists I feel like I cannot wait to hear new music. I'm so pumped... ALREADY.

For many years, Ne-Yo has provided some of the most critically acclaimed R&B artists in the world, including Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Beyoncé Knowles, Whitney Houston and Christina Milian, with exceptionally written songs that they have turned into chart-topping hits. The multi-talented R&B singer/songwriter/producer has confirmed that he is currently writing ballads for X-Factor winner and multi-platinum selling artist Leona Lewis.

 

Ne-Yo commented on Lewis’s musical talents and how she does not necessarily need to conform to a commercialized dancing style by saying, "She has a niche, a style that's already here. She has a phenomenal voice so I don't need her to dance. I can give her songs she can dazzle us with."

 

The songs that he is currently writing for Lewis are expected to be featured on Lewis’s upcoming album. Ne-Yo has also publicly advised Lewis, who is admittedly very shy, to open up and gain more experience performing live so that she can begin to feel more comfortable in regards to her stage presence.

 

Ne-Yo provided a comment in regards to his belief that Lewis should attempt to gain more experience because of her naturally shy personality. He said, "In this business, people want to know you, so you've got to be willing to give it. I hope she starts doing shows to build up her stage presence as it's something you have to train for."

I'm all for it. I'm You had some nice, crisp production and would've killed it had there been an official remix. It didn't though, so was left on Spirit as a bland filler track.

She was unproven so he gave her a weak track. Now she's proven she can have a monster hit so hopefully he will realise and give her some good material this time. :)

Who says she is doing a duet? And who says she is going urban? Don't know why you are presuming that.

She won't go that urban, if at all. For the forseeable future, the execs know she's a pop artist. I think one of two tracks that are tailored for Urban radio would be a great idea. It would just make her more appealing as it's a big demo and could garner big sales. Like I said, she won't do a u-turn and become another standard 00's R&B singer but it would be nice to see that side of her.

And jeez, Justin's cool man. Everything he touches seems to work, lately. Look at how good LSM is doing for Ciara. She had a number of hits some years ago, but she's been flopping this era. Justin has rejuvenated interest in her. It's only a good thing to have him on board for her sophomore album.

^ Agreed. I'm sure a few songs will have an urban slant because it's such a successful genre in the US. I doubt she will ever go fully urban though, maybe the odd feature on a rapper's song like Lil' Wayne but that probably wouldn't make her album.

Leona Lewis will collaborate with Timbaland on her upcoming second album, it has been claimed.

 

The X Factor winner will work with the producer as well as fellow stars Justin Timberlake, will.i.am and Jay-Z on the follow-up to 2007's Spirit, The Mirror reports.

 

An insider said: "Timbaland can't wait to work with Leona and make her feisty like Beyoncé and Rihanna.

 

"The ballads will still be there but the tracks will be racier and there'll be dancefloor anthems too."

 

A spokesman for Lewis said: "It's early stages but we're all very excited."

 

Pop superstar Michael Jackson is said to want Lewis, Timbaland and Timberlake to appear at dates of his O2 residency.

It's from the Mirror originally so I doubt it's true. They know she's working with Timbaland and probably made the rest up. She'll never be racy or like Rihanna with the scantily outfits.
