A very reliable source over on Girlsaloud.net.

I am so happy! :cheer:

That would mean higher release week sales than CSF.
so do we think they will release a third song after this narrow miss then.

Yay, fantastic to know and great to see it had sales which were better than quite a few of their other singles aswell.

They better go with a 3rd single though, it will break the top 10 record but you know, there are worst things that could happen.

I think they should release a 3rd single and forget about getting top 10s
I think they should defo release a 3rd single to push album sales/promote the tour and not worry about top 10s now! album sales make more money!

They've got a nice round 20 consecutive top 10s now, I agree, let's not focus on it now especially as the third single will quite clearly not make it if 'The Loving Kind' can only just scrape in.

I'm happy and relieved it made it though, I wonder how close it actually was in the end.

I actually think TLK low chart place is mainly down to the girls taking the month of, no promo since December, when everyone was still raving about The Promise.

They will certainly release another single from the album maybe to co-inside with the tour.

I agree, i think the next single (if there is one) will be promoted better and nearer the date of release and will guarentee a top 10 placing, it wont be overshadowed by the album and TP as much either so that could help it.

Also, if they appear at The Brits, get nommed (which they have to), perform (which i think they will, they're BRITISH and certainly filling the SG void and even not on their own will with the PSB) and even win, their profile will become even bigger and help the single.

Go with something other than RBR and they should extend their run to 21 top 10's ... i mean it would be lovely to see them reach 30 (which is a possibility with the 2 album deal).

I don't see a third single making it as most people recognise 'The Loving Kind' as the album's best track, and plus the album will have sold more by then.

Hmmm this has been posted on GirlsAloud.net/GirlsAloud.org

THE LOVING KIND IS OFFICIALLY GIRLS ALOUD'S 20TH TOP TEN SINGLE!!!!!!!!!!

I can exclusively reveal that it's this weeks #10!!!

It sold 19,656 copies this week taking it's total sales to 59,143!

521 copies ahead of #11 (Kanye West)!!!!

All this weeks chartings and sales...

Sound of Girls Aloud: Greatest Hits - #10 (11,790)

Out of Control - #24 (8,236)

The Promise - #37 (7,498.)

Call the Shots - #163 (1,230)

Something Kinda Ooooh - #174 (1,157)

Can't Speak French - #176 (1,148.)

Theme to St Trinians - #194 (1,039)

Not sure I believe its accurate but I guess we will see - I didn't think the 'St Trinians' them could be downloaded seperately anymore?!

They allowed it to around the time St. Trinian's was released on DVD, it made a very small impact on iTunes around then.

I feel that the girls have been incredibly lucky to reach number 10 with "The Loving Kind", especially when you consider they have not attempted the usual round of promotion (during the week of physical release). They appear to have become complacent and in a way, who could blame them (their extended run of consecutive top ten singles, out of controls unusually high album sales & a surge in popularity ). Possibly they felt that they did not need to bother with the usual push . A good song does not necessarily translate into a good chart position (without any effort). I hope that they can learn from this.

I think you're slightly right, but it was the fact it was xmas too. They've had a rather busy couple of months with the album and TP so they deserved a break. Maybe the single should of been released two weeks later so the girls could have the chance to promote it, either way its sold pretty well and they did do some promo unlike most other artists (Kanye West).

I CANNOT believe it was no.1 on airplay but no.10 on the officials. I mean i know it happened with Jennifer Hudson but wow. Well done for them though, i remember two years ago when i hardly ever heard GA on the radio. Ever since CTS radio has loved them and two no.1 airplay hits in a row prove that.

Well done girls, off an album close to selling 700k in 3 months their single still goes top 10. If there's a next one then do a little more promo near the time and it should go top 10 (#8, #9 or #10) and make it 21 consecutives.

I think a 3rd single could easily reach top6 and above. I mean, one or two TV performances this week would have easily shifted a few thousands more copies. So if they promote a 3rd single the right way (like they have always done until TLK), they could easily chart a lot higher :)

Maybe the could release a new single as the next single and have a re-packaged album... would make more album sales and not destroy the run, but it doesn't really matter anymore, they made 20!
